Thanks Derek. Much appreciated!
Sounds really cool, I was introduced to the DAO a couple months ago by @apboatt and weâve had discussions about the creation of merch for APEFEST 2024, personally Iâm excited to see this happen and will be available to assist in the design process if you donât mind someone outside your organization contributing.
A no brainer yes, good luck with the AIP!
Hey thanks. Will keep that in mind.
Thank you. Much appreciated.

1. âWeâll require that you have a specific role in the ApeCoin Discord plus have an ApeFest ticket in order to claim your free merch package (1 per person).â
a.) What specific role in the ApeCoin Discord do you propose?
The verified apecoin role is all that is needed. It will prove they hold an apecoin.
b.) Given the unofficial nature of the aforementioned community Discord channel, coupled with the relative lack of uniquely defined community roles there, would you consider using the ApeCoin Discourse forum (and its built-in âTrust Levelsâ) as an alternative resource?
Yes, that is another way to prove they hold apecoin. So yes. The goal with both options is to prove they hold apecoin and to prove they are a unique individual (being able to tie merch kit claims to an individual).
c.) How will you be verifying ApeFest ticket ownership?
Manually. Will be asking claimers to submit a screenshot of their tokenproof ticket/dashboard, tied to their wallet containing the apecoin. This will show the ticket and the wallet address.
With both options (discord or discourse), I can easily set up a thread for users to post the screenshots/claim request. Another option is that they can submit a form that I set up. Either method will work to gather the information in a transparent way.
2. Is the website through which claims would be received live and operational? If so, please provide the URL.
Yes, BoringMerch.com. I will be setting up a unique page for people to claim and checkout.
3. Would users be required to connect a blockchain wallet in order to initiate a merch kit claim? If so, what are the plans for security audits of the site?
No. This will not require any wallet connections.
4. Would there be any user costs associated with the claim?
The aip will cover the merch kit and shipping. The only other costs that the users may incur is their customs import /duties/taxes fees for their respective countries. There will be a message on the product page about this before they claim.
5. What personal information would be collected from users interested in claiming a merch kit?
The standard info needed to ship any item. Name, address, phone, email. Then wallet address and forum/discord username for verification as stated above.
6. How do you plan to safeguard sensitive user information, like shipping addresses?
All sensitive data will be encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols. We will enforce strict access controls, ensuring only authorized personnel have access to sensitive information. Adhere to data protection regulations and best practices, such as GDPR and CCPA. Use secure payment gateways that comply with PCI-DSS standards to protect payment information despite the claim being âfreeâ. Collect only the necessary information and retain it only as long as needed for business purposes. Users can also opt to have their info scrubbed after the order is processed. By following these practices, we aim to ensure the highest level of security for our usersâ sensitive information.
7. a.) In the event of a âclaim-outâ of the first phase of Merch Kits, how do you intend to signal to the Foundation the request for the remaining $27,500 to create the additional 100 kits?
We will communicate with our main point of contact (via email or on discourse, not sure how they will communicate with us) to request the additional funds to begin production on the second batch of kits.
b.) What documentation do you plan to provide to prove these 250 kits have in fact sold out?
We will provide a sales report from our ecommerce platform that details the claims (omitting user info of course).
We can also opt to provide a list of claims submissions from the above discord/discourse/form methods as a redundancy.
8. âAnother idea if we have more demand than 350 merch kits, is to have a pre-order phase that would potentially allow for the ability to purchase the merch kits with revenue going back to the DAO.â
a.) Should pre-orders become necessary for interest beyond the allotted 350, would your website have the capacity to process these orders?
Yes, our site can handle this.
b.) What currency(ies) would you propose to accept for these pre-orders (USD, $APE, etc.)?
$ape, usd, sol, eth.
c.) What percentage of gross revenue would be returned to the DAO?
If we list the kits at $250, it would be 10% of the gross revenue returned to the DAO. If we list them at $275, it would be 18.18% returned to the DAO, and so on. So, at minimum 10% of gross revenue.
d.) Is there an expected schedule for the distribution of revenue back to the DAO treasury?
We would distribute this after the pre-order phase kits are shipped out. We would have the pre-order open for 30 days. Then production timelines will determine the rest.
e.) Is the individual/team/business entity prepared to facilitate the distribution of gross revenue back to the Foundation in a way which is compliant with both the relevant local regulations and Cayman regulations?
Yes, we will do this as per the Foundations requirements.
9. As per the ApeCoin General Guidelines, âproposals will not be put up for vote if they involve illegal activity, hate speech, pornographic material, or are at odds with the mission or values of the APE Foundation.â Can you ensure that the content produced by this proposal would be in keeping with these guidelines?
Yes, 100%.
10. Do you provide consent to apply updates to the relevant areas of your proposal based on your responses to the questions above?
Yes.
11. Do you provide consent to share these questions and answers with the community in this forum?
Yes, hopefully this helps.
