AIP-485: Indication of Prior Review and/or Confidentiality Agreements in AIPs

PROPOSAL NAME:

Indication of Prior Review and/or Confidentiality Agreements in AIPs

TEAM DESCRIPTION:

LiveFast9986: Author of AIP-401, APE_U Coach, Author of the Historical AIP Voting Analysis with Alternate Voting Strategies
X: livefast9986
GMAIL: LiveFast9986@gmail.com

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION:

Any post formally submitted as an AIP must indicate if there was any review of the subject matter in the AIP by members of the Ape Foundation, acting in an official capacity, prior to the submission of the post. In addition, any author(s) of an AIP must indicate if they are currently under any confidentiality agreements (e.g. Non-Disclosure Agreement) related to said AIP they are submitting.

This will take the form of a disclaimer at the bottom of the post that states that whether the author(s) of the AIP have received any formal review by the Ape Foundation prior to submission, as well as a statement indicating if the authors are currently under any confidentiality agreements due to the subject matter that is a part of the AIP they are currently submitting.

Examples can include, but is not limited to:

This AIP has not received any formal review from the Ape Foundation prior to LiveFast9986 submission.

LiveFast9986 is currently not under any confidentiality agreements that are related to the subject matter of this AIP.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM:

This AIP is designed to provide a bit more transparency to an otherwise opaque process in which some AIPs appear to be expedited towards a Snapshot vote while others remain in various stages of review. It also helps provides some clarity and reasoning to the community on why authors refer to aspects of their AIP as REDACTED.

By providing these simple disclaimers while submitting an AIP, the community is better able to understand how much preparation (if any) was made prior to the formal submission of the AIP to discourse, as well as an indication of whether certain aspects of the AIP cannot be discussed by the author due to the nature or substance of the AIP itself.

DEFINITIONS:

Confidentiality Agreement: A written contract that protects sensitive information that parties share during business transactions or relationships. The agreement defines what information is confidential and outlines restrictions on how it can be used.

REDACTED: censor or obscure (part of a text) for legal or security purposes

Ape Improvement Proposal(s) (AIPs): a document proposing a new feature, project, activity, goal, piece of information, or change to any proposal that has already been implemented.

STEPS TO IMPLEMENT:

Should this AIP is to be approved, this AIP can be executed immediately by requiring all newly submitted posts for AIPs to include a disclaimer indicating whether they were subject to formal review by the Ape Foundation and/or if they are currently under any confidentiality agreements related to subject matter of their AIP.

REPORTING EXPECTATIONS:

The expectation is that this proposal will be managed and implemented by the DAO’s administrative team, such as the Facilitators. The team will be responsible for ensuring that all newly submitted AIPs include the disclaimer.

If accepted, the administration and the community should regularly review the impact of this AIP and provide adjustments or amendments via subsequent AIPs as necessary to address any potential problems, conflicts or issues.

OVERALL COST:

Total amount requested from the ApeCoin Ecosystem Fund = $0 USD (0 APE).

you could use EAS for that, on chain attestations.

I like it, but i would like to keep it on the AIPs themselves and not have people check other places for information related to the AIP.

There always should be a minimum discussion period, that is for sure.

There is. 7 days from AIP Idea to AIP Draft.

Thanks for sharing this - https://attest.org/

Do other DAOs use this tool? If so which ones?

Thanks.

We use it with Grant Ships. What we did is we made a compliance policy for our “Ship Operators” to follow. We have them download the policy and then go to EAS to make an attestation that they will follow the policy. Then if the policy is not followed, we could revoke their rights as operators. We currently do it manually, but we could automate some of it right in the app, it just hasn’t been in scope. Yet.
There is a EAS scanner for each chain it is deployed to so you can see any and all attestations. Ethereum Attestation Service

Hi @LiveFast9986,

The community feedback period for your proposal would be ending in less than 24 hours.

  • If you’re content with the feedback received, your next steps are to finalize your proposal using the AIP Draft Template.

  • A moderator will reach out to the author to finalize the AIP Draft. Upon receipt of the final Draft, we will review and provide instructions on the next steps.

  • Are you ready to proceed to the next phase or do you wish to extend community discussion for another 7 days?

We look forward to hearing from you.

This proposal is a good idea. In fact, I added similar transparency requirements in my Fast Track Proposals and Enforce Leadership Transparency which went up yesterday.
