Changing the UI of discourse

Personally, i think the User Interface of the aipe-coin is complex and not user-friendly mainly to newbies and not organized, so I feel it should be up for debate if the forum UI should be changed and if reviewed they should be an upgrade on the forum once every year or in months for better user experience.

I found that discourse hub on mobile to be much more user friendly.

I think discourse overall can be cleaned up making it more logic and action orientated. Don’t forget for general conversations both Twitter and discord exist.

In my opinion discourse should be simple as the core objective is to get quality proposals vetted BEFORE going to snapshot and reporting on progress AFTER.

Mostly use mobile aswell, once you know your way around it gets easier I guess

it’s not a bad idea, it would be more pleasant, even if you quickly get used to the interface

Exactly this is exactly what i was talking about.

I totally agree with you about the forum’s UI. It’s quite complex and not very user friendly. Especially for newcomers. I think it’s important to have a discussion about changing the forum UI to make it more organized and easier to use. What are your specific suggestions for improving the UI? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

At the start i felt the same, but right now i see this as a reddit, hard to get used at beggining but if you are really interested and keep using you will get used to it in days.

I thought it was complicated too, but after a few days using it, it was easy to use the forum

I feel you but the main aim of a forum is to make it simple and basic.

Yeah I agree, it could be a bit more user friendly and welcoming, especially for new users. As you spend more time here, you get used to the interface, but it is a bit overwhelming when first joining.

I personally like it. But that’s me.

I also find a little bit disorganized but I find discourse very simple and great. But yeah all the DAO is very difficult for me haha

The complexity of the UI is what puts off many newcomers. For Redditors and folks with a bit of a Dev background, it may be easy to understand but for the majority of us that came here from NBA Topshot sports culture and twitter, it appears daunting. I kind of prefer a Medium like interface but maybe somewhere between the two would be a right fit. We need a panel on the left with categories for starters. I miss many AIPs because I am too lazy to search for them, but that’s just me I guess.

@0xSword has great ideas of implementation. What you want is not really UX or UI issue in large. Personally I would like this letters to not look that dark

UI and UX are crucial aspects of any platform. I think Discourse is more user friendly on mobile than on PC.

UX is decent and any changes to the code would likely end up in not being able to run future updates

I agree with your suggestion. Sometimes it is more complex.

Hahah @TheFatherOfAllStorms hey I have looked at your tech screenshots, and it stumps me as to why it happens. I’ve wondered if it might be an issue where you should try reinstalling your operating system, but I’m not sure your tech specs or how you have things setup.

From my understanding, Facilitators may have the ability to do more stuff like update the categories and utilize the announcements, maybe even refresh the help & resources section. I think we’ll see improvements soon without need for an AIP like AIP-7 Discussion: Restructuring the ApeCoin Forum.

As far as this early idea, it’s been really difficult to make many changes after the precedence set in AIP-7. I do think we can get past that stage now that Ape Assembly puts forward Facilitators, pending how that is setup through summer time. @muxty what suggestions do you have for improving?
