Nomination Statement

I am running for Special Council because I believe wholeheartedly in the Guiding Principles of ApeCoin DAO, and aim to demonstrate them in everything I do as a hard-working prospective member and representative of my community. As a dedicated and committed community member, I aim to bring a diverse background and skill set with a strong knowledge of business, finance, and education to the Council. As a man of color with a registered disability, my experience is unique and can speak to the marginalized and underrepresented members of our community. I am an active daily participant in this ecosystem, who is hard-working, dedicated and who has the trust and respect of his peers.

Motivation

In a world fraught with fraud, nepotism and lack of transparency, I aim to be a beacon of trustworthiness and dependability as I bring those attributes to the Special Council. I believe every voice should have the opportunity to be heard, and I’d love to have a role in positively representing the community while pushing forward ApeCoin DAO into the next step of our journey.

Rationale

With an MBA as well as a Master’s Degree in Education, I am intimately familiar with business and finance as well as acknowledging the importance of education and public transparency. From financial statement analysis (P&Ls, Balance Sheets, End-of-Year reporting), to taxes, to AR/AP and payroll, I’ve been involved in virtually every aspect of business finance for the better part of a decade. My experience in this, coupled with my passion for engaging the human side of an otherwise ever-digitized world, makes me an ideal candidate for this role.

Specifications

As a member of ApeCoin DAO, I’ve been an active participant in its structure and organization, voting and reading up on live proposals, and have authored an AIP. I have a number of ideas for DAO improvement, including suggestions regarding the transition toward a truly decentralized organizational structure, as well as a more autonomously operational format.

Concluding Statement

With one of the most diverse backgrounds and skill sets of any potential candidate, my passion for financial transparency and organization is rivaled only by my passion for the advancement of our ApeCoin community. I am an ideal fit for this role as Special Council member, and I implore you to strongly consider my nomination. Thanks to all involved for your time and consideration.

Hi @CryptoLogically, I am asking all candidates these same questions:

  1. If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO? (Let’s pretend you only had the time and energy to make a personal push for one item - what would it be?)

  2. Are there any factors in your life that may limit your ability to serve? (conflicts of interest, time allocation, limited wifi bc you work from Starbucks… etc)

  3. What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in it’s current state?

  4. What is a Koda?

Thank you,
F/S

Hi fox! Thanks for asking. Here goes:

  1. If elected, the thing I’m most passionate about and what sets me most apart from other candidates is my desire to see more people of color involved in the governance process of the DAO. This is a powerful new resource, and one that far too many are unfamiliar with. We have the ability to impact global communities, and the black community in America (where I live) has been historically either behind the trend or excluded from these nascent technologies entirely. I want to be a stand for and a rallying cry for folks of color around the world who may have great ideas but lack the outlets and resources to bring those impactful ideas into the light.

  2. If anything, the factors in my life as it currently stands are the only thing preventing me from becoming fully unleashed. I work several jobs, as well as managing my small business, and this position would actually have the opposite effect: it would free me to focus on this DAO full-time, dedicating my full resources and attention to building a better, more globally inclusive organization. This is a big year for ApeCoin DAO, and the groundwork to be laid in 2023 will take no small amount of attention and effort. I’m here for all of it, and excited about the prospect, regardless of this election’s outcome.

  3. My least favorite thing about our DAO in its current state is the lack of clear and organized structures that can help facilitate a smooth operational flow. This includes a number of facets, including working groups like a Communications team, an IRL events team, financial reporting, even a clear set of guidelines and expectations for SC members is needed. While several AIPs are currently addressing some of these concerns, we need a more cohesive and transparent organizational structure if we want to be able to enact policy and move swiftly and efficiently (yet thoughtfully). Also, a clear lack of black and brown voices continues to concern me, which as I mentioned I aim to shift as well.

  4. A Koda is an ancient race of Ape, the alpha and predecessor of all Apekind. They’re interdimensional travelers who parallel our own Apeverse, and are soon to bridge these universes by finally making contact. They are the keepers of an ancient custom and technology that’s not yet been revealed to Apekind, one that we are on the cusp of discovering firsthand. Buckle up.

“candidates is my desire to see more people of color involved in the governance process of the DAO.”

If you had the power to pick 10 candidates out of the 44 from the list, whom would you pick to work with as your team members, and you as the leader?

Love this question. While we have a tremendous number of highly-qualified candidates, I’d probably go with (in no particular order):

  • Vera the Ape
  • Dr. Novo
  • Lior
  • Gerry
  • Justin Van Buren
  • BoredApe G
  • Giacolmo
  • NFTC
  • Wrongplace
  • Badteeth

Each are incredibly active members of our community and have at least some interaction and familiarity with our DAO prior to the start of the SC nomination process. I’ve spoken with each of them personally on several occasions and would be honored to serve with any one of them.

Note: this isn’t in any way to discredit or minimize any other candidates, as there are others I’d love to work with that didn’t make the ten you requested. I just happen to be most familiar with and understand these candidates to be most aligned with with my specific values. This is a pool loaded with talent, and I’m excited to see where the next steps take us all.

Thanks again for your question.

Will you work for the ApeCoin DAO as Special Council member if the financial incentive compensation is $1000 per month instead of $20000?

  • If your reply is “Yes”, please explain why?
  • if your reply is “No”, please explain why?

Yes. With a caveat: if earning the former, I’d still need to maintain my other jobs in order to function and provide for my family, so my participation would be limited to my present level of involvement (which you can see measured on my profile, of course). That said, I’d do the very best job I’m capable of doing given my present constraints.

As it stands, I mentioned earlier that my full potential to engage with the DAO would be completely unleashed if I were compensated as presently prescribed. I could quit both my jobs and focus entirely on the DAO. As I understand it, this is a full-time position and should be treated as such.
