DAO Board Composition: should the board have an independent board member? How many?

How would you feel about a separate governing body to provide checks and balances to the board.

What would you propose this separate governing body does that’s different from the board, or the DAO members collectively.

Note that the board is already limited in its function. From AIP-1:

The purpose of the Board is to administer DAO proposals and serve the vision of the community.

“Needs Administrative Review,” which is for any pending AIP with costs, content, or implications that are considered to be complicated or a potential risk to the well-being of the DAO and therefore must be reviewed by the Board of the DAO.

I would assume the above would be a safeguard against the DAO voting in favor of something that might be problematic, such as unintended legal consequences.

If the Board decides to return a Pending AIP for further clarification or action, they must provide a clear explanation of why and tag it as either “Return for Reconstruction” or “Return for Clarification.”

The board must provide clear reasoning for any actions it takes on pending AIPs
