Are you suggesting that because he has collaborated with the former POTUS - who has consistently been accused of being racist - that somehow makes it OK?
Do you not understand how branding works and how said brands can be tainted in many ways which are detrimental to the brand?
What are you saying? That regardless of the threat to a brand - by racists Red pill nutters - that it’s all good? Please explain because I am struggling to undertand the logic and I don’t want to jump to [unfair] conclusions.
Just to clarify—we’re not partnered with Adin Ross in any official capacity. Our content group is extremely popular and frequently collaborates with some of the biggest influencers worldwide. This was an opportunity for our group and partners to gain visibility with millions of viewers.
If your main concern is the brand risk associated with Adin Ross, there’s really no issue here. The exposure and benefits for the MBA brands far outweigh any concerns, and, as mentioned, all brands were informed ahead of time and were excited about the opportunity.
There’s no need to be concerned about an ApeCoin rug being shown on a livestream. Dozens of brands that aren’t directly associated with Adin Ross appear on his streams every day without issue. Again I would love to chat on voice sometime to further share our perspectives. For now, I’m going to move on from this discussion. Thank you
I’m not here to turn this into a political debate. Yes I mentioned the former POTUS, but not to make this a conversation about politics. Come on, this is the ApeCoin forums, you’re going to have people on both sides.
Are we really saying we can’t collaborate with nearly half the U.S. population because of their political views?
Aside from the fact that you were the one who created this line of discussion by mentioning him as in “but he’s also collaborated with the former (and potentially future) president of the United States” as if to endorse and/or support his activities just because he has collaborated with said political figure.
Further, my response had nothing to do with politics, but remained on point regarding the racist views of the streamer and to which I compared to the aforementioned political figure who has in fact engaged in similar activities.
Finally, mentioning a political figure isn’t making a political statement or argument.
Which part of your “pivot” is self sustainable? And to blame this on delays in funding is typical DAO bs. This is not what was approved and not what should be spent on.
Please share your info that shows the broad support on you taking DAO funds and then “pivoting” to spend it on things which were not approved by voters. I’ll be pinging legal to see about a claw back.
Right now, it is more of an art than a science for me to drive the implementation updates.
In the last month, I have reached out to all authors. Many had no contact from the Foundation after they got their funding.
There have been cases where they refuse to even give an update or claim they did it already and sent to the Foundation, but won’t say to who in the Foundation. Then when I asked a person they said they won’t take the time to look for it and/or post it here.
My point, we need a change in process, where a percentage of funding is held back or other negative repercussions, such as not being allowed funding again.
I have an AIP draft for part of the solution.
Also, not having any time limits to accept funds is not professional, as circumstances change and AIP voters based on the facts and situation at the time of the snapshot (hence the name). We have AIP still not funded, authors shouldn’t be able to just keep them open to draw on at a later date.
For now, I appreciate all authors who have agreed to update. We need to find ways to make the grants win-wins and not just have accepted authors ghost the DAO after getting funding.
Also, if all Working Groups are dissolved who will do it?
It isn’t in the interests of the Special Council or Facilitators who work on the DAR and final contracts to drive this.
This is not a new problem in Grant making organisations globally. A Monitoring Initiative is something the GWG could do, if it exists in the future.
We decided to pivot because it’s a more sustainable option for both our company and the AIP. This is not about assigning blame to the DAO, the Foundation, or the Special Council. I’m simply pointing out the fact that while our AIP was approved on February 15th, the execution didn’t happen until August 15th. That’s quite a long gap, and much of that time was intended to be spent building and promoting the ApeCoin Influencer House with our Fortnite Gaming roster, including creators like Miro, Reet, and Tum, as outlined in our AIP.
However, with the Fortnite Championship and the 2024 season wrapping up on September 8th, there’s been limited content opportunities for these players. Many of them have spent the majority of the year focused on competing and are now taking extended vacations until next season. This meant we would have had a house that wasn’t fully utilized and with limited content to produce during this period.
In light of this, we’ve shifted our focus to broader influencers who are still gamers, but also post lifestyle and entertainment content that aligns with both Swamp Gaming’s brand and our AIP. These influencers aren’t on vacation and have plenty of content opportunities for the next few months, making this pivot a more effective and timely strategy for us.
If you closely review our AIP, you’ll see this is exactly what was approved. It clearly states that we would onboard ApeCoin influencers and establish an ApeCoin house. Everything we’re doing now aligns with the AIP and what was funded. The only difference is the micro-strategy regarding how we’re utilizing the house, which we shared in an update to keep everyone informed. However, instead of support, we’ve faced criticism for trying to do what’s best for our company, the DAO, fellow Made-by-Apes brands, and the Yuga ecosystem.
It’s truly disheartening to feel let down by a community that was so welcoming in the beginning. There’s no blame to place for the delay in executing our AIP—it was a new and complex process that took time for both our legal team and the AIP Foundation’s legal team to navigate. We remain committed to our mission and hope you’ll choose to support us moving forward. If not, that’s your choice, and we respect it, but we will continue to build and fulfill our AIP obligations regardless. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I’ll see you in the next update.
Happy Friday fellow DAO members! Got an exciting update for y’all
We just announced one of our first gaming events under AIP-380: the official Dookey Dash Cup. In partnership with Yuga Labs, we’re hosting the very first third-party Dookey Dash event, and one of our top priorities is proudly representing ApeCoin and ApeChain throughout. As outlined in our AIP, our mission is to bridge the gap between traditional gamers and Web 3.0 games.
This event will feature some major players, including our own top professional gamers like Mero, Reet, and even FaZe Sway, each with millions of followers. The event will be live-streamed on Faxuty’s Twitch channel, who boasts nearly 500,000 followers. We expect thousands of traditional gamers to tune in, with many likely downloading Dookey Dash after watching.
I’m not sure that matters too much since he’s simply being paid to promote something.
But kudos to @TFG for the impressive array of gamers. One thing I’d be very interested in is seeing metrics that result from this promotion. Are you going to be tracking clicks and/or downloads that are a result of this in order to measure impact? For a multitude of reasons I’d find that to be super interesting.
DDU is in a rough spot after falling off all of the charts entirely, so it will be neat to watch how this impacts that.
Point well made. I was just going by my experience as a game dev in that we tend not to continue marketing a game after it has already been deemed to be a failure. And DDU isn’t the exception; instead it’s the rule whereby over 90% of games which originally spike (due to interest) at launch, then wilter within mere days if it fails to capture an audience.
Anyone looking at the DDU charts already sees what happened by day 3. And that goes toward what most of us have been saying for ages now; that being the Apes ecosystem bubble simply isn’t large enough to sustain most projects. But obviously DDU is deemed to be a resounding success to anyone within that bubble, regardless of that not being the reality of the metrics. But that’s OK too because that’s what catering to a niche group tends to do. As long as enough people in that group spend enough to recoup the costs of the project, then it’s all good.
I doubt that it will have any impact whatsoever. Gaming is a brutal business and DDU has a specific target audience that’s simply not large enough to sustain it. I like the part whereby the usual suspects in the timeline were creating memes about DDU “flipping” games/apps which have charted - and stayed there - for years.
I agree with you. I read this as a Yuga paid sponsorship so I guess my attitude was if Yuga wants to burn some money in support of large streamers (money’s tight for them afterall ), I’m all for it. Make that bread while you can. I could be wrong there though.
If this was a DAO paid sponsorship, I’m unsure how it would directly contribute to the DAO since to the best of my knowledge there is no $APE integration. But transparently I haven’t played the game as I’m not interested in pay to win competitive games, so it’s possible there is an integration I’m unaware of.
If it is Indeed a Yuga paid sponsorship I’d have no expectation of ever seeing performance metrics for the sponsorship, as much as I’d personally find them fascinating. If this is a part of the DAO funded activities, then I’d have a larger expectation for transparency around performance. I’d have to imagine this is a 5 figure sponsorship giving the size of the influencers in question, so I’d be curious what Yuga would deem as a success in regards to whatever outcome happens.
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Sway has officially joined Swamp Gaming! For those who aren’t familiar, Sway has around 12 million followers and reaches millions of gamers every month through his content—content that will now prominently feature ApeCoin.
Not only is he now a key member of our team, but he’s also part of the ApeCoin DAO. This goes beyond what we initially outlined in our AIP—Sway was originally onboarded while being in FaZe Clan as an ApeCoin influencer, but now he’s fully representing both Swamp Gaming and ApeCoin in a much bigger capacity.
This opens up countless new opportunities for us to promote ApeCoin, spread the word about the DAO, Bored Ape Yacht Club, the Yuga Labs ecosystem, and everything we’re building together. It’s another crucial step in the foundation we’re laying for greatness, both for Swamp Gaming and the ApeCoin DAO.
Stay tuned for more exciting announcements coming soon, and thank you for your continued support!
If you took the time to do proper research before making these claims, you’d see that he’s not only mentioned it once but has addressed it multiple times. In fact, he just posted a YouTube video that has already garnered tens of thousands of views in the first hour, promoting Dookey Dash, Swamp Gaming, ApeCoin, and Bored Ape Yacht Club.
Over the past week, he’s also made several Twitter posts about Dookey Dash and Bored Ape, retweeted relevant content, and shown consistent support. He also promoted Dookey Dash and our Dookey Dash Swamp Gaming event during his livestream today, which had over 3,000 viewers.
In addition to that, he’s played Dookey Dash multiple times on stream. Please stop unfairly targeting our AIP; it’s becoming excessive.
