Security Council Elections

According to the AIP-582 it was suggested that Security Council Elections would begin on 15th July 2025. Given this is 74 days away good to know the plans on this.

The initial Security Council Cohorts will be determined by randomly splitting the 11 members into two cohorts - 5 members in the ‘First Cohort’ and 6 members in the ‘Second Cohort’.

The first Security Council election is scheduled to begin on the 15th July 2025 or the earliest possible date. The election can only begin upon the availability of an on-chain election process that is approved and installed by the ApeCoin DAO. This first election replaces the ‘First Cohort’. The next election replaces the ‘Second Cohort’ and so forth.

I agree. I would have expected that we would have had Security Council elections by now.

Agree. The process should be in put into place and initiated so that the functionality of the DAO and can move forward, and the reputation and integrity of the DAO won’t be questioned.
Proactive leadership activity is key here from the current SC and Foundation.

FYI, I have made another topic for Special Council Elections. However, this is awaiting approval for the last 2 days. I thought best as a separate topic as there is a clear fixed time and date for Special Council elections, where as this one has the caveat of needing On-Chain voting happening first.

Looks like Special Council elections are coming next week. Does that mean that Security Council elections will be at the same time?

Special Council Election process kicks off Monday.

Council members are global ambassadors. This isn’t a governance role and shouldn’t be a popularity contest. It’s a call for those who can rep the culture IRL and online.
