Stop Motion Apes: Animated by ApeCoin!

Meirav and I are both OG apes and have been active members of the community, we are best known for creating the popular filter generator Bored Art Not Bot. We have now teamed up to create Stop Motion Apes in a collaboration that showcases the best of our web2 skills!

Meirav and I joined forces in our shared love of stop motion and have aspired to create animations of bored apes since day 1! In 2023, we collaborated with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios to create custom top of the line stop motion puppets of our apes and thanks to the BBAC program by ThankApe, we finally get to bring them to life through animation!

Here are some fun photos from this process:

Picking out clothing and accessories, color tests, and first look at the high-end ball-and-socket armature and silicone body

Fine tuning the noise fur with silicone tests embedded with glitter

Engineering 3D prints of the head with magnetic replacement mouths and eye masks that fit together seamlessly

Sanding, priming, and painting all the replacement mouths

The finished puppets made a special appearance at the Otherside play test in Los Angeles.

Our mission is to create high-quality animations, starting with a stop motion Lo-Fi channel featuring our bored ape puppets in an impressive hand-crafted set that honors the iconic and quirky art style of the club. To do this right, we will need to enlist amazing talent, including experienced set builders/ painters, cinematographers, and animators. We have been anxiously awaiting the chance to move forward with production and are so grateful to have been selected for the BBAC grant!

We plan to feature cameos of iconic MBA products as well as ApeCoin in the animation we film with our bored apes. This will give MBA brands and ApeCoin the opportunity for commercial presence in high end stop motion animation that will be viewed by a wider audience.

Down the line our goal is to create even more iconic stop motion animation with our apes- including short form content and even narrative-driven animation to help put apes on the map. With further funding, we also hope to be able to create and feature other apes, providing our services commercially in a way that is designed with MBA’s in mind!

The Vandal is on Vimeo on the link I sent! The one on Shudder is Divinity which has a stop motion sequence at the end! It’s definitely more on the dark side haha

Bro. I am so excited that both of you are here. I am so stoked to see what you all create, build, do together. Whatever it is, is gonna be awesome!

I will create a Shudder account just to watch your sequence.

I am constantly amazed by how many very cool creative people there are in our group. I would love to set up a group chat with you @Dany319 and others, just so we can keep the creatives in the same room.

The creative aspect of all of this is so important, and with so many talented people in the room, I think we can find ways to collaborate.

I just saw this. All in! I just connected with @JavierLovato.eth on Twitter! and sent him a Stop-Motion short I (wrote) and directed in 2014.
His post brought up so many memories. One day, I’ll tell you the whole story. Spoiler: it doesn’t end well.
