Weekly update on Twitter or Discord on ongoing and completed AIPs

After reading all the AIPs that have passed and been funded I found it hard to get a good source of what was achieved and what impact was made on the ApeCoin ecosystem.

I have an idea for the ApeCoin team to run a weekly Twitter spaces or Voice Call in Discord to invite one former grant receiver each week.

Some AIPs will have varying degree of success and part of the ethos is to accept that some degree of failure will be expected. That said these calls could have several benefits:

  1. Let the community how they have done.
  2. Inform people outside of the DAO what we do.
  3. Help those who are writing AIPs by understanding issues others have encountered.
  4. Potential collaboration between previous grant receivers.
  5. Community members maybe able to get involved with the individuals or organizations that received funds to build them better and enhance the ecosystem.

What do others think? I didn’t put this in ideas yet as might not be an AIP and could be done by the governance group?

I think if recipients are willing, providing feedback on outcomes, process etc. is useful. Even if it’s written rather than in spaces it could be helpful to others in applying and in refining awards etc.

I like the idea. Even a simple twitter thread with updates might be enough.

Should feedback not be a requirement on receiving funds? It could be in a written report to the DAO. You mean funds now are given with no future reporting needs? At least a basic explanation if funds used as expected in the AIP.

Thanks for presenting these ideas @bigbull! You will hopefully be happy to hear the Governance Working Group is actively working on some of these initiatives already. Here are some notes on each.

1. Let the community know how they have done.

I’ve started tracking Milestones of Approved AIPs here. However, this is just a start and much more can be done to provide actionable insight to the community.

2. Inform people outside of the DAO what we do.

This is an area I think we as a DAO can do much better at. Any ideas on what can be done here? I have a few ideas but would love to brainstorm.

3. Help those who are writing AIPs by understanding issues others have encountered.

The Discourse Facilitators are currently working on this. They should be able to share more details soon.

4. Potential collaboration between previous grant receivers.

I’m hopeful some of the components from AIP-258 could help here.

5. Community members maybe able to get involved with the individuals or organizations that received funds to build them better and enhance the ecosystem.

I’m hopeful the Beta Testing Group @Hangout and I have been working on can help with some of this.

In addition to the above, I have been brainstorming ideas for audio content (Spaces, Discord calls, podcasts, etc.) and agree with what you that distributing info via calls would be great for the community as well. Would love to discuss these ideas more with you and anyone else who is interested.

Thanks,

I think it’s a great idea. I presume that someone will find the AIPs, create a list, then one is picked from the list, and someone reaches out the grant recipient?

I actually thought of something like this a week ago. And so I created this thread. Nobody seemed to have interest in it.

Great idea. This would allow us to get feedback, share experiences and promote AIP projects. Such meetings can be stimulated with the help of the ThankApe program by including the organization and presence of such meetings in the awards for participants
