It has come to my attention there is much false narrative both inside the ApeCoin community (in the unofficial Discord) and written online in articles. In both cases the amount of holders of APE is stated incorrectly or without the caveat that their information to make such statements is incomplete. They often base on very basic viewing of etherscan holder list without understanding who, where and how APE is held. This is very important as it leads to false narratives with regard to the Gover…

There are already a few NFTeams members here, but I still want to give my two cents. I’ve been with Steve’s NFTeams project since day 1 and can only say that he is one of the best founders in the Web3 space. Not only does he have a great idea with NFTeams, he has always been able to communicate perfectly all the steps his project has made. Moreover, he kept us constantly connected to the project, as there were tournaments to play every weekend, you never lost the connection during the 2 years. The community he built is also unique.

I think this was a smart move from the team, why create something new and spend millions and many more months doing it for a few mini-games that will be turned off in a month or so? To me, it says they are smart and financially savvy.

I’ll be doing the same for player training, reskinning games, and adding a few bells and whistles. It lowers costs, while also giving players something they are familiar with and something we know has worked in the past and people like to play. At this stage of web3, I don’t think we need to re-invent the wheel for gaming (not yet anyway, but we will).

So, your thought process is that the way forward for Web3 is reskinned web2 games? You know that’s why they’re all failing, right?

There’s a difference between making a game with Web3 components and just reskinning one. I have written several articles about this specific issue for over a year now. And the marketing for Wreck League, a Web2 game that started over 2 yrs ago, now hardly mentions Web3. And Yat was on a Spaces stream less tha 48 hrs ago baasically talking about how the future of Web3 games was in making Web2 games - or something like that.

When it comes to Web3 gaming, there’s nothing to reinvent because it’s just a tech stack. It all boils down to making a good game that people want to play. That it has Web3 components should be irrelevant because it’s not more than saying that a game has multiplayer, co-op, or advanced graphics.

I see this error made a lot by people unfamiliar with the space and I believe this is mentioned below as well. You can’t take metrics like this at face value, you need to look at the wallets. I’m guessing what you will find here is the top 10-20 of these wallets are exchanges and staking contracts. Binance alone could hold 50% of all $APE, but really that is 100,000 holders.

That’s a different argument from the one that I was making. One wallet with 100K endpoints is still one wallet. And when you look at the wallet count of $APE holders, it’s still one wallet. It’s completely irrelevant that the one wallet holds 1 or 100K $APE.

btw, Binance doesn’t have that many holders. You can extrapolate this from readily available data metrics.

Love the discussion, but maybe it’s better done in a chat (my twitter is @day25). Would love to keep this post for feedback on the idea and how I can improve it. You seem very straight forward and I would love to hear where you think I can improve on it to give myself the best chance of getting the funding.

I don’t think that your AIP needs additional work. My comments are just there to temper the hyperbole which could be a put off for some people who do know better. You’'d be surprised to learn that most of the AIP voters have never been in Discourse or Discord, and thus don’t know the pulse of the community. And even so, a large portion of the community doesn"t post on Discourse, though some breeze though now and again. Point being, you never know who is reading while not engaging. Then they get to vote.

Also, the fate of Otherside is still unknown. And I haven’t see anything that leads me to believe that it will reach even 25% of its stated goals before 2025 or later. So. what’s the purpose of a league for an environment that doesn’t actually exist and which may never exist in the form that your AIP speculates that it will be? Remember that you have no control over the fate of Otherside.

Most would agree it is 100% certain a metaverse will exist, and it’s also practically certain there will eventually be games played in sporting leagues by sporting franchises within that metaverse. NFTs are a potentially ideal use case for implementing it.

Now if you believe there is even a 1% chance that sporting league and those franchises will be NFTeams powered by Apecoin in Otherside, then owning 5,000 genesis 3D players for an investment of only 500k in it’s development is a no brainer of a decision.

It might be too early to say exactly how it will evolve, but the mere possibility of success is very exciting and this is the perfect opportunity to showcase the capability of Apecoin.

Hi all,
Nikolaj here. First time post here and NFTeams is the reason why. I’m a big believer in NFTeams and back this project 100%. I’m not sure what I can add that hasn’t been said or articulated already, but I suppose that being brand new to NFTs and Crypto prior to NFTeams, I can vouch first-hand for the quality of the community. “Teamers” have a big picture, long-term outlook on the project, they’re kind and helpful, bloody funny with great banter and love sports. All of those traits will translate across to new platforms, avenues, challenges and destinations. This is why I back Steve, his team, this community and this project.
P.S. The amount of IRL utility to NFTeams is second to none, as seen above in Steve’s post and the many comments in reply to it. I can also vouch for this, having experienced (and worn!) all of it!

@day25 has responded to our questions and has provided consent to share them in this forum for the community.

1. Is the Ape Foundation expected to engage in any of the steps of the AIP implementation? If so, please specify the steps and elaborate on how it is expected to work.

The only thing needed would be high-quality versions (SVG, png, jpeg) of the Powered by Apecoin or ApeCoin logos.

No other engagement is needed.

2. Web3 connectivity is required to participate in NFTeams games and player mint. Have you conducted any security audits, and will you share the reports with the ApeCoin DAO?

We originally launched in 2021, and had 2 other devs look over the contract (but no official audits were done). Mat (our Dev) has worked on more than 10 contracts with no issues.

Our current site requires logging in via MM and signing a transaction. We will use the same structure but also add Warm and Delegate.

We are happy to have this flow, the website, and the new Player contract audited (at our expense), and share the report with ApeCoin DAO and the community.

3. Please provide a brief history of the NFTeams platform including any previous security exploits and audits.

As mentioned above, we have been going since October of 2021. The site has been running since then with zero security exploits. We give away a minimum of $10,000 AUD per month, so there is an incentive to find exploits.

In a nutshell, a user must log in with their MM account to compete in our contests. Once logged in, a welcome message is signed, and they can see all their teams and jerseys and can enter tournaments. Entering tournaments also requires the signing of a message to prove ownership.

We also have a My Account section (requires signing a message) and a voting section where 1 team is 1 vote.

4. Is there an alternative plan in place if the Otherside technology doesn’t support this?

If for some reason Otherside SDK access is not given to NFTeams for any reason, we will look at alternatives such as building our own world using the Unreal game engine. We believe it will be 3 years before we start to try and replicate the desktop experience in a 3D world, and many things will change in the space over that period. There will be other options (Futerverse, Sandbox and others), that may be an option to build on as well.

5. Do you have any estimated costs for users to use the platform’s features or any premium features?

A Player will be able to be trained without spending any $APE, just like we are able to do with games like Dookey Dash and HV-MTL. But there will be options to accelerate player stats via $APE sinks.

All players will be able to train once for free per 24-hour period. By training (playing a specific mini-game), a Player has the chance to increase their stats or increase/decrease their weight. To train more than once per day would require using $APE to buy another pass. Depending on the price of $APE, I believe it will be 1 or 2 $APE to train once more after the free training session.

Players will also be able to pay for a “Personal Trainer” who will automatically train them daily. This will likely be 30-50 $APE per month subscription.

Sporting Equipment which can help increase stats can also be bought or rented from others for $APE.

Teams will be able to choose if they want to enter a season and will need to pay entry fees (in $APE) to enter a tournament, these fees will go straight to the PrizePool for that tournament.

Depending on the current royalty debate, Players may have to pay a yearly fee to be a part of the league, and this will be around 20-40 $APE per year.

6. Would you require a licensing agreement for the use of the ApeCoin logo for the implementation of this proposal?

The ApeCoin logo was going to be placed on 500 Jerseys in the Sponsorship spot. We can either ask for a licensing agreement, or we can use the “Powered by ApeCoin” logo which requires no such agreement. We are happy to use “Powered by Apecoin”.

7. Currently, NFTeams grants full commercial IP rights to its holders. What IP rights would users possess of players featuring any potential ApeCoin branding?

Players will have the same rights as we and Yuga Labs give to holders. Full commercial rights. Just like Yuga, if a Player sports an ApeCoin logo, they will have the right to use the logo ONLY as is, meaning only with the entire jersey and player attached. I own an APE with a black BAYC hat and can only use that hat attached to my ape.

If we move to the “Powered by ApeCoin” logo, this will no longer be an issue.

8. Would your expectation be to keep complete full ownership of content produced from this proposal?

Yes.

9. Do you provide consent to share these questions with the community in this forum?

Yes.

But we do have mini-tournaments running (picking sporting events) for NFTeam owners at the moment. We give away between $10-$15k a month
