PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION:

This proposal aims to introduce an NFT event check-in solution based on ApeChain, combining hardware products (NFC chips and scanners) and software products (an app based on ApeChain) to provide NFT holders with an immersive experience at all NFT offline events.

Specific Implementation Plan:

In terms of hardware products, we will use NFC technology combined with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) to embed NFC chips into peripheral products, including clothing, hats, toys, and skateboards. We will also design and manufacture NFC scanners to detect products with NFC chips and read selected NFT image data in an app based on ApeChain, then display on a large screen to realize the conceptual scenario of NFT as our web3 identity and participate in real offline events. Simultaneously, scanners will also be used to support the “Unmanned check-in” model in Merch stores.

In terms of software products, we will develop an app based on ApeChain, offering features such as wallet connecting, NFT selection, and animated scene corresponding to the ticket you purchased. The app will provide a user-friendly interface for NFT holders to easily use the check-in system. All check-in animations can be individually created and saved by users, forming a unique user-generated content (UGC) culture, which also makes it easier to spread within communities and out of the web3. For event organizers, animating event tickets to become a unique background for attendees can help expand the brand’s influence and generate much higher traffic than traditional marketing methods.

This solution will fully leverage the image of all NFTs, providing NFT holders with a more immersive experience and enriching existing methods of peripheral product distribution. It will create unique and native web3 gameplay during the offline events and provide all NFTs with more practical value beyond avatars.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM:

The proposed NFT event check-in solution will bring several benefits to the APECHAIN ecosystem:

  • Enhanced Adoption and Engagement: By providing NFT holders with an immersive experience at web3 offline events, the solution will increase adoption and engagement within the $APE ecosystem. NFT holders will feel more connected to the ecosystem and be incentivized to participate in events and activities.
  • Increased Visibility and Recognition: The innovative nature of the check-in solution, coupled with its use of ApeChain, will enhance the visibility and recognition of $APE in the broader market. This will attract more users, projects, and potential collaborators to the ecosystem, driving its growth and fostering a vibrant community.
  • Diversification of Use Cases: The check-in solution will demonstrate the versatility of $APE beyond where we are right now, showcasing its potential in the realm of NFT event management and engagement. This diversification of use cases will attract new projects and investors to $APE, expanding its reach and utility.

Overall, the NFT event check-in solution will contribute to the growth and development of the APE CHAIN ecosystem, defining APE CHAIN as the primary chain for all NFTs and continuously providing value for all $APE holders.

APECOIN REVENUE MODEL:

Single Instance Revenue Forecast

Item Quantity Unit Price ($APE) Total Revenue ($APE)
Hardware Sales - NFC Chips 10,000 5 50,000
Hardware Sales - NFC Scanners 50 1,000 50,000
Project Subscription - Check-in System (including Venue NFT issuance) 1 10,000 10,000
Project Subscription - “Unmanned Check-in” Model 1 10,000 + Total Revenue * 1% 10,000 + Total Revenue * 1%

Total Revenue: 120,000 $APE + Total Revenue * 1%

This table clearly outlines the revenue forecast for a single instance, providing a comprehensive view of the potential earnings from our proposed solution.

*50% of gross revenues will be returned to APECOIN DAO, in perpetuity.

NOTE:

  • Fees will be charged for the services provided by the check-in solution and “Unmanned check-in” model, and only $APE will be used for payment.
  • Offline merch stores adopting the “Unmanned check-in” model can only be paid with $APE.
  • NFC customization will be charged separately and paid for using $APE.

I’m interested in the tech application and the costs and revenue model seem reasonable.

A few questions:

  1. Can you elaborate more how this benefits ApeChain and ApeCoin? Where are the transactions occurring? How is ApeCoin involved in these “unmanned check-ins”?

  2. Can you provide a more detailed financial forecast, including revenue forecasts? If the DAO is expected to receive 50% of them, we need to understand the potential return of the 480k $APE investment.

  3. What problem in the ecosystem are you trying to solve? Said another way, who is the target customer for this product and what pain points do they currently have that this will address? Answering this will help us understand the probability of hitting any revenue forecasts.

Thank you for the questions. Before answering these questions, I want to clarify that this check-in solution originated from my experience at the Ape Fest. During the main event entrance process, everyone was waiting in line for security checks, which made me think about whether the characteristics of NFTs could be showcased during this process. I believe NFTs are not just a PFP for us but also a symbol of our identity in the crypto/web3 industry.

To address the first question, I believe this solution is a starting point for Ape Chain to open up a diversified market. This solution integrates all NFTs and even web3 events, meaning that when people participate in events like Token 2049, which are not NFT-themed, they can still showcase their NFTs to represent their participation in “non-traditional offline activities.” This adds more attributes to NFTs, especially BAYC/MAYC/other Yuga NFTs, beyond just being a PFP, garnering additional attention. We hope to channel this attention towards the Ape Chain ecosystem, making Ape Chain an essential part of all NFT projects. Additionally, as mentioned in the “Revenue Model,” all transactions within our app will be settled in $APE, including gas fees. This creates a consumption scenario for $APE, with 50% of the generated revenue returning to the APE COIN DAO. Transactions will occur within the app. Furthermore, $APE’s role in the “unmanned check-in” includes:

  1. Project parties selling peripheral products will need to pay a service fee in $APE to purchase NFC chips and use the “unmanned check-in.”
  2. Users will need to pay in $APE when purchasing products with NFC chips.

Regarding the second question, honestly, we are still refining our revenue forecast because NFC chips and scanners, to some extent, support customization by the project parties purchasing the service, which significantly impacts revenue. However, it is certain that with the initial promotion, more and more project parties will recognize our value, and revenue will increase accordingly! (We will try our best to complete the process before the upcoming APE FEST, which will bring more buzz and attention to the event.)

The third question is more complex. The core issue I want to address is that NFTs need more native web3 playability to break through and attract more user attention. From another perspective, all NFT projects and offline event organizers are our target customers. NFT projects can use this solution to expand their brand exposure and influence. NFT holders gain more interesting playability, and offline event organizers gain diversity in ticket distribution and sell peripherals.

Thanks. So as I understand it, fee subscriptions from clients, gas fees and merch sales all conducted in $APE will be the primary demand driver for ApeCoin. Is this accurate?

I do think having a high-mid-low forecast will help us all understand if the amount is a reasonable investment, so to the extent you can provide that if/when this proceeds to a full vote would be helpful.

Yes sir, you understood correctly. We are also making adjustments to the revenue forecast, and we will disclose this information to everyone during the formal voting stage.

When it says “user testing” - what does it mean? How do you TEST users?

User Testing means that we will have some users test the product’s experience (including but not limited to the smoothness of NFC and scanner interaction, the experience of selecting entrance animations in the app, and the “unmanned check-in” model). This will help us obtain the most authentic user feedback to ensure that our final product provides the best user experience.

Can you break down how you plan to pay users and KYC to make sure they are from non conflicting with Foundation regions? Also the amount of users and time you based your amount on. Thank you.

Since we are developing a comprehensive solution, we will select our test users from several different identity groups: project parties with branding and promotion needs, organizers with offline event needs, and individual users. For each type of user, we will select a certain number of participants to ensure sufficient quantity while maintaining diversity among test users.

The specific number will vary based on our development progress, as users with real needs can provide the most authentic feedback. This data will also be synced in real time during the formal implementation.

Do you have the detailed cost break down yet and how each will cost?

If you’re asking about the User Testing part, I have listed it above:

User Testing and Feedback Collection: 19,200 APECOIN
User Testing Planning and Execution: 9,600 APECOIN
User Feedback Collection and Analysis: 9,600 APECOIN

Here is a preliminary estimate of our budget for this part. We will integrate this solution into several events, using real participants from offline activities to evaluate our work. Additionally, we will disclose this data in real-time moving forward.

1. Your Steps to Implement section outlines total period costs of 430,400 $APE, yet your Overall Cost requests a total of 480,000 $APE. Please account for the remaining 49,600 $APE in your Steps to Implement section.

I have included the details for the remaining $49,600 APE in the Steps to Implement section, but since I am unable to edit my AIP DRAFT, I have attached it below: AIP450 - Google Docs

2. Period 1 in your Steps to Implement section contains a Milestone indicating the production of NFC tags and scanners. A significant portion of the requested funds are earmarked for this production. Have you secured any partnerships for the production of these parts? Please elaborate.

The design and production of the NFC and scanners will be handled by our team member Dustin (NFC Expert). As mentioned, they have a mature supply chain for equipment and modules, which will improve project efficiency.

3. Period 2 in your Steps to Implement sets the expectation for a team of Software Developers to develop and test the app on ApeChain. A majority of the requested funding is earmarked for this development. Would this be handled directly by the team, or would you contract with a third-party to develop the app? Please elaborate.

Our app will be developed by our team, with Pan (APP Developer) and Sean (Product Manager) leading the team to complete the entire app design and development.

4. Period 3 in your Steps to Implement section contains a request of the APE Foundation to “[Allow] NFT Event Check-in Solution to be used on side events or even main events.” We recommend that you give the Foundation the ability opt-in to coordinate with the team in order to use your Check-In Solution for certain ApeCoin DAO events.

No problem, we look forward to close cooperation with the Foundation.

5. Period 4 in your Steps to Implement section contains a request of the APE Foundation for “Social Media Interaction.” Regarding social media requests, The APE Foundation has introduced a social media request form to streamline the process of requesting tweets, retweets, and other social media activities. This form is currently accessible to approved AIP Authors, and requests would be considered at the discretion of the Ape Foundation.

Noted, we will register it for promotional purposes when needed.

6a.) Since your app would require token holders to connect wallets, what are the plans for security audits of the app?

To ensure the security of our app, which requires token holders to connect their wallets, we have planned comprehensive security audits. These audits will be conducted by reputable third-party cybersecurity firms with expertise in blockchain and web3 technologies.

6b.) If you have already begun auditing the platform, please provide proof of the audit(s).

Currently, we have not begun the auditing process as the platform is still under development.

6c.) Do you have any estimated costs for users to use the platform’s features, or any premium features?

We do not have an estimate at the moment; we will know the cost range once the app development is complete and we begin the user testing phase.

6d.) Do you have plans to protect any collected user data? Please elaborate.

We are obligated to protect the collected user data.

7. “50% from the revenue model will be returned to APECOIN DAO.”

a.) Would you be willing to amend the proposal so that the Foundation would receive X% of Gross Revenue in any instances of funds returned to the DAO’s treasury? This has been the preference in the past.

Yes, but I currently do not have editing rights. Additionally, we can discuss the preferred percentage with the Foundation.

b.) What will be the term length for the DAO to receive this revenue?

We will conduct a monthly coverage analysis of the events and provide the returned revenue at the end of the month.

c.) Is there an expected schedule for the distribution of revenue back to the DAO treasury?

Not at the moment; it will be announced later.

d.) Is the individual/team/business entity prepared to facilitate the distribution of gross revenue back to the Foundation in a way which is compliant with both the relevant local regulations and Cayman regulations?

The team will return the total revenue to the Foundation in compliance with relevant regulations.

8. Since the budget is requested in ApeCoin, would the success of this initiative depend on the price of ApeCoin at the time of disbursement?

Part of the budget is allocated for the design and production of NFC and scanners. These costs will be settled in USD with traditional enterprises and production teams, so fluctuations in the ApeCoin price may have some impact but will not affect the successful implementation of the plan.

9. Do you anticipate raising any third-party capital? If so, please clarify, including who these anticipated third parties are, the fundraising period and any decks.

Currently, the team has not raised any third-party funds.

10. Are there any plans in place for communication and reconciliation if certain milestones are not met on time?

We have meticulously calculated all current plans and milestones, and the entire team will maintain real-time communication to ensure the complete implementation of the plan.

11. For how long should the outlined Reporting Expectations be expected to continue for? I.E. 18 weeks, 1-year, 2-years, etc.

The Reporting Expectations will tentatively be set for one year.

12. Do you provide consent to apply updates to the relevant areas of your proposal based on your responses to the questions above?

Yes, I agree.

13. Do you provide consent to share these questions and answers with the community in this forum?

Yes, I agree.
