We’re all here because we believe in the future of Apes, ApeCoin and everything about the BAYC Universe and our amazing community. But let’s talk about something real - our voting system. Right now, it’s like being in high school where the kids with the most lunch money get to decide what’s on the menu for everyone. That’s not very $APE of us, is it?

What’s the Deal? :thinking:
Currently, the more APE you hold, the more your vote counts. While we respect our whale friends (we see you, and we appreciate you), we’ve got mad talented builders, artists, and visionaries in our community whose voices deserve equal weight in shaping our future.

The Vision :rocket:
One Ape = One Vote. Simple as that. Whether you’re holding 1 APE or 1 million APE, your voice matters equally when it comes to governance. This isn’t about diminishing anyone’s investment - it’s about maximizing our collective brainpower.

Why This Slaps :fire:
Every builder gets a real shot at making their ideas heard
More diverse projects get attention (not just the ones whales like)
Harder for any single group to dominate decisions
Actually decentralized (like we always wanted)
More apes participating = more dope ideas

How We’ll Make It Work :hammer_and_wrench:
Set up a secure verification system (one wallet = one vote)
Smooth transition period so everyone can adjust
Keep minimum APE holding requirement (skin in the game still matters)
Regular community check-ins to fine-tune the system

For me it is a no on this.

Our voices can be heard by joining together in Delegations.

Also for subset of funding for sub initiatives, I am ok with the idea of different voting mechanics, like what was done with the grants given before on the Nouns platform.

We need more incentives to hold APE rather than have all the larger holders sell their APE.

@kairo it is good to study of BTC overtime as a good reference.

Hi mate,

Do I think a person who buys $ape today should have as much say as someone who held $ape for almost three years now, has only known $ape as a governance token in that time, and shown up everyday at the DAO & for voting, hmmmm, let me think.

Immediately this idea is dead in the water as whales would need to vote for their own demise.

Other issue is that the only people this will impact are those who have known wallets - so for example an unlabelled wallet can easily game the system, creating hundreds of wallets and passing “your skin in the game” threshold, whereas known wallets with good reputations in the community would be reasonably prohibited from doing so.

In your defense, and to encourage you to continue developing ideas to change how we vote - I’ve not yet seen a system that totally protects against Sybil. Your mission is undoubtedly a noble one that resonates with the few, and intrigues the many, here at apecoin DAO. However, this proposed voting method for me fails as the parts needed to make this work are simply not enforceable on-chain and/or require all participants to be fairly honest - whereas the vast majority of people in crypto, as we know, are unscrupulous & willing to exploit any system/situation to gain advantage.

thats what the discussion board is for to exchange different view points.
also aware that this would most likely not go through becuase of the points you mentioned, but wanted to take an active part in this side of the community, too.
Interesting to see people do actually care also!
