AIP-179: NFTCG Generation 2 - ApeCoin DAO Physical & Digital Trading Card Game

Appreciate all of the feedback, and love to see a familiar face!

To answer your first question, the $15 price-point is to account for the PBT technology integrated into each of the trading cards. The initial Genesis Collection with Moonbirds did not feature this Web 3.0 tech, and hence, it was released at a slightly cheaper price point.

To wrap up that thought, the NFC tech is initially thought of as required in order to showcase chain-based authentication of the physical collectibles. This is a means to prevent any chance of counterfeiting. Beyond chain-based authentication, this tech will allow the cards to have both a physical and digital playable version tied to one another.

I have read the AIP-112/AIP-148 proposals and love what they are working on! While it would definitely be worth picking their brain on the idea, I do see difficulties in entirely joining forces as we do have a different manufacturing process and already established suppliers. Despite this, I am open to having a conversation with their team should they want to reach out!

Would love to hear additional thoughts/questions as they come.

Best Regards,
Lycaon

Hey guys, Drebin here with NFTCG. I am working on this endeavor along with Lycaon and am really excited to see the community’s thoughts on this idea moving forward so we can make the necessary tweaks. Outside of NFTCG, I work professionally as a Sales Engineer in the Industry 4.0 space and code in my free time. I will be available answering questions alongside Lycaon for this project!

Ofc it’s good to create a profitable initiative, but the DAO can’t accept profits right now. What would be done with profits?

Hi, thank you for sharing this proposal. I’m wondering on regards storing key pair on NFC, what kind of procedure are being planned to store and securely sign ownership without having any security vulnerabilities, since it would be easy to steal the private key from an NFC, anyone who had any previous contact with the chip can claim ownership.

Hey Mantis,

Thanks so much for taking the time to read our AIP Idea and leave us some feedback. My team and I have spent quite a few days brainstorming where the royalty we provide the $APE DAO would be allocated since funds can’t be collected by the DAO as of right now. We intentionally left this part open ended in hopes of gauging where the community would like these funds allocated, however we have taken adept time to consider potential avenues, such as using the funds to purchase Otherside land or perhaps to stake/store the funds in a place that is well regarded by the community.

The goal of the royalty structure is to show our thanks to the $APE DAO, and we want to make sure we gauge all of our options to choose the best way possible to show our appreciation to the community. Feel free to provide us with any additional suggestions as to where you might think the funds would be best kept.

Lycaon

Hey codeislight,

Great question! I think this concept could perhaps use further explanation within the proposal itself as it sounds like you are thinking of the typical non-encrypted level 1 or level 2 NFC chips. While security issues would be an issue with that older form of tech, we are using NFC chips that are capable of generating and storing an ECDSA secp256k1 asymmetric key pair. This keypair has an exposed public key, but its private key cannot be extracted from the encrypted chip.

As a result, individuals who had previous contact with the chip may have a register of its public key, but they no longer have its private key. Hence, they can no longer claim ownership when the card is out of their possession.

Let me know if you have more questions on this concept!

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to post a brief update on the positive response received on Twitter after our 1st capsule collection with Moonbirds. The packs are all shipped and the response from customers after getting hands on with the product was very positive!

I thought it important to share this as the results from our first release serves as a testament to existing market interest and proof of manufacturing/supply chain capabilities!

As explained in the proposal, Generation 2, under BAYC, will be a much improved iteration of what is displayed here in Generation 1.

See below for a better look at what the cards looked like in hand from our Generation 1.

Love to proposal! Have just 2 questions:

How will you guys go about deciding who’s ape is in the collection?

How will you guys go about getting permission for people’s apes in the collection? I can definitely see some people wanting to be added but how will that process look since they have ownership of the ape?

Cheers!

Hey @lovingtheworld

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our AIP. To address your first question, the Bored Apes displayed in the collection are determined in two parts:

1) 15 of the total 55 designs will be allocated to prominent members of the BAYC community, which will be agreed upon by our team, long term BAYC members who we believe have been around long enough to watch the community develop into the market dominator it is today, and the owner of the ape in question.

2) The other 40 of the total 55 designs will be raffled off on my twitter account, in addition to other BAYC community members’ Twitter accounts that we are in communications with. Contestants will provide us with their discord name, Twitter handle, and BAYC number. Our team will then take those results, filter out any duplicate submissions, and randomly pick 40 winners. We plan to leave this giveaway up for a week.

In regards to your second question, we plan on providing all chosen Bored Ape owners with a simple agreement that states NFTCG’s rights to use their Ape for NFTCG Generation 2 “Going Bananas”. The contract will only give us permission to use peoples Apes for this collection.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. I really appreciate the engagement you’ve provided in this post, and I encourage others to do the same if they have any questions!

Best Regards,
Cyrus
