1. Please verify permission to use Garga’s IP for this proposal submission, alternatively please provide an update for the graphic in your proposal, otherwise we can help to remove it.

I assume you’re referring to the picture I put with the proposal text. That’s the render we made that was approved by Yuga Labs PR team for our original blog post: x.com

If the DAO team needs to see one of our contracts with Yuga Labs to verify the relationship between us, let me know!

2. “If the DAO chooses to, we can set up mints of new accessories that fund back to the DAO.”

a.) How would the DAO signal its interest in monetizing these accessories?

I was hoping to get that decided in this step, mainly from the DAO team. Put simply there’s 3 options:

1 - All accessories are free to any ApeCoin holder

2 - All accessories are paid with ApeCoin

3 - Some accessories are free to any ApeCoin holder and some are paid with ApeCoin

b.) What would the expected revenue model for this option look like?

If it’s chosen to go for a model where some or all accessories are paid, we would like to have a shared revenue model with the DAO as people mint to unlock accessories. Although we have no way to forecast the revenue that would come from it, at least 50% of the revenue should go back to the DAO. If we were to go for a profit-sharing model like this, we can use the funds we obtain on the studio to keep on developing more 3D models and maintain all running costs of the tool without having to ask for further funds once the initial 240 accessories are released.

c.) What would be the expected schedule for the distribution of revenue back to the DAO treasury?

I believe in the minting contracts we can set up a distribution of revenue where the wallet where the DAO treasury gets the funds as items are minted. Alternatively, it’s also possible for us to collect the funds and then do recurring transactions back to the DAO. Either model works for us.

d.) If the DAO were to accept this option to monetize avatar accessory mints, is the individual/team/business entity prepared to facilitate the distribution of gross revenue back to the Foundation in a way which is compliant with both the relevant local regulations and Cayman regulations?

Yes, we would need to set up some paperwork between both entities but it’s totally doable. We’ve facilitated wearable sales in the past for different companies in very similar models to this.

3. “A 3D Avatar Generator, OtherSide compatible, powered and branded by ApeCoin DAO, supported on ApeChain with tokenized accessories (traits) to combine together and generate a 3D Avatar.” Please elaborate on the project’s ability to be compatible with the OtherSide platform, which is not yet currently released.

Compatibility with OtherSide as of today is mainly based on making these new avatars with the same tech specs as the official BAYC avatars. This means: same file format, similar size, same texture size, same armature, similar bounds, etc. Another good thing is that we’re among the studios getting early access to the OtherSide SDK (ODK) so we’ll be able to test these features too.

4. Regarding any granted permission to use ApeCoin trademarks by the APE Foundation for the proposed avatars, do you expect to maintain full ownership rights to the content and/or IP which may be created as a result of the approval of your proposal?

The IP created would be for the DAO to hold. We want to be credited as the designers and developers behind it.

5. “We would love for the DAO and community to be involved in suggesting and requesting what traits they’d like to see.” How would the DAO signal its requests and/or suggestions?

Honestly, I don’t know what would be the best course of action here. When we’ve done our own collections we’ve run polls on Discord and such or enabled forms for submitting suggestions of traits but we are open to any ideas of how to go about this from the DAO team.

6. You’ve mentioned that no new hires would need to be done as you have an entire in-house team consisting of “1 blockchain developer, 3 full stack developers, 1 graphic designer and 4 3D artists assigned to the project.”

Please revise your Team Members section, as specified by the AIP Draft Template and AIP-121, it will be compulsory to provide a description of team members (a brief “CV”, previous experiences in Web2 &/or Web3).

Yes, this would be employees of our studio. Given they’re individuals that are not used to public-facing work, what are the details I should disclose? Would the following work as an example?

Name, Last Name initial: Role Title, Years of experience, Industry experience, Years developing in Web3.

7. Your Reporting Expectations section includes mention of a public Notion page. If operational, please provide the link to this page.

It’s not created yet.

8. Regarding the Reporting Expectations section, for how long would the reporting continue for?

The reporting would cover the whole year where we would be releasing new accessories every month.

9. Please include a revision for your Overall Cost section, as specified by the AIP Draft Template:

Include any additional requests that are directed towards the APE Foundation, especially concerning the community discussion platforms, website, or Snapshot.

I think it’s pretty much covered, it’s mainly about what accessories we should include in the generator.

Include a more detailed breakdown of the budget.

What parts should I elaborate on?

10. “We’d require the APE Foundation to grant us access to a subdomain if the community rather wants APE Foundation to host the project, else we can offer our 3D Avatar Platform as a host.” How long would you offer to host the project on your 3D Avatar Platform?

We can definitely host it for a year on our own website, but I would say a preferable outcome is using an ApeCoin domain along with all its branding.

11. Since the vipe.io platform would require token holders to connect wallets, what are the plans for security audits?

The smart contracts in our platform are already audited.

12. If you have already begun auditing the platform, please provide proof of the audit(s).

It was done by the team at https://byterocket.com/, I’ve got the contract we signed with them and the audit document to provide.

13. Do you have any estimated costs for users to use the platform’s features, or any premium features?

If we’re referring to the cost of minting the accessories to be used in the Avatar Builder, I suppose it’s not decided yet. Nevertheless, if we go for a model where not everything is free, I would recommend the average prices of the items to be fairly low, as in 5 ApeCoin for example. But I think it’d be better for the DAO team to suggest what they think is best.

14. Do you have plans to protect any collected user data? Please elaborate.

Only user wallet and activity when choosing the accessories they want to mint and use.

15. Your stated Milestones includes “Publication of guides on how to use the avatars.” Where would these publications be made available?

We could find a place in the tool itself to publish them or facilitate the materials for the DAO to publish. Guides would be in text documents and sometimes as videos.

16. Please provide a revision for your Steps to Implement section. As specified by the AIP Draft Template:

Provide more details regarding the 3 separate segments in the projects. (3D art, Blockchain Dev, Website Dev)

3D Art: Design of accessories, 3D sculpture, optimization, texturing, rigging and quality assurance

Blockchain Dev: development and deployment of smart contracts in ApeChain for users to claim/mint the accessories they want to use in the generator, security and quality assurance.

Website Dev: UI/UX Design, Frontend Development, Backend Development, Security, Quality Assurance.

Provide more details regarding the 12 months timeline.

Not entirely sure in what way to elaborate on the timeline, what’s laid out in the timeline are the moving parts involved depending on what month we’re in.

Detail any associated costs, personnel, and platforms needed for each of the steps.

Other Page will be offering something very similar at $0 additional cost to the ApeCoin DAO.

A better way forward would be to partner with us on the 3D avatars for ApeChain, which we’ve already budgeted, instead of the DAO spending an additional $370,000.

Great thoughts overall. I think having multiple calls with all the 3D thought leaders in this space and metaverse stewards would really clear things up for this proposal
