PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION:

Soul APE is a knowledge-sharing and social platform designed to connect ApeCoin DAO from the Web3 world to the broader Web2 market. We believe that “knowledge should be paid for.”

Our Goals:

  • Inclusivity: Soul APE welcomes everyone to join, making it easier for users to learn about ApeChain, NFTs, and Crypto, injecting new vitality into the ApeChain ecosystem and expanding the practical use cases for ApeCoin.
  • Knowledge Sharing: We invite Web3 professionals to share their unique knowledge and experience with others, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Increased Awareness and Participation: By offering social networking services, we aim to reconnect the Yuga Labs NFT series (including Cryptopunks, BAYC, MAYC, BAKC, Meebits, KODA, and MoonBirds) and boost ApeCoin DAO’s visibility and user engagement.

To support the community’s continuous development, we are committed to allocating 10% of our total quarterly net profit to the ApeCoin DAO treasury. This will not only strengthen the financial foundation of the community but also foster more innovation and collaboration. We believe that through Soul APE, we can expand the influence of ApeCoin DAO into the Web2 market, building a bridge between Web2 and Web3, driving long-term growth and prosperity for the entire ecosystem.

Attracting Young People to Web3.0

Crypto, despite 16 years of growth since 2008, remains a rapidly evolving industry. From early skepticism to today’s ETFs and meme coins, crypto has consistently broken historical expectations.

Our goal is to connect young people with Web3 professionals, offering direct access to accurate, real-time information and practical experience—something traditional learning lacks. Soul APE serves as a trusted source in the information-saturated internet, guiding young people in the fast-paced Web3.0 world.

Community Needs

The Web3.0 world can seem complex and challenging for newcomers, yet its potential is drawing more people in. Soul APE provides a welcoming space where experienced users share knowledge, helping newcomers adapt to this opportunity-rich environment.

Web3’s growth in crypto, NFTs, and DeFi has attracted professionals and enthusiasts eager to connect over shared interests and values. However, communities are scattered across platforms like Telegram, Twitter, and Discord, causing fragmentation. Soul APE addresses this by making it easier for users to find like-minded people and connect through shared interests, facilitating smoother interactions and reducing the awkwardness of rejection.

Reconnecting Yuga Labs NFT Holders

Soul APE serves as a hub for NFT holders from Yuga Labs’ collections like Cryptopunks, BAYC, MAYC, BAKC, Meebits, KODA, and Moonbirds. These communities, often spread across various platforms, can now gather in one place for richer collaboration and connection. For instance, during a blockchain week event, users can easily find and connect with nearby attendees, expanding their social circles with just a match.

Key Features of the Soul APE

  1. Instant Messaging: Allows users to engage in text chats.
  2. Profiles: Users can create personal profiles showcasing their interests and photos.
  3. Social Networking: Helps users build and maintain social relationships, expanding their social circles.

Did ChatGPT write this entire proposal?

There’s this:

Then this:

lol_pt1

ps. Pretty sure market research on the addressable market for people who would use a Web 3 dating app for Yuga asset holders is probably close to 0.

So uhh…

Have you done some market research to understand what the total addressable market is here? And then how many of these people are going to need to spend money to even begin to recoup an $800k spend? What percentage of the total population of Yuga holders would be interested in dating other Yuga holders of their gender of preference? How much overlap exists there? I’m guessing Yuga holders are 90%+ male.

I’m going to have ChatGPT write a lengthy post about why this isn’t a good idea to combat your lengthy ChatGPT post about why it is. :joy:

So, I asked ChatGPT using targeted prompts

This just popped up in my feed. lol

Also who is this Xavier? Just to double can you share your CTO’s profile? I want to double check something if you dont mind.

I wanna know who Angus, the CBO, is.

@PhilWatkins @AllCityBAYC

Not every AIP will resonate with every holder.

It’s also worth noting that I do a lot of advising on proposals, both formally and informally, so when @Johnny_2 approached me about advising on one of his AIPs going up, I jumped at the opportunity to help out a friend and look forward to providing insights on the project as it progresses! Full support for him and what he’s been able to accomplish both in and out of Web3!!

:apecoin: :muscle::muscle:

AC

Can you speak directly to the other project who did the research and found there was no market here? Have you done the basic due diligence to understand the total addressable market?

For context, I worked at a startup that didn’t do this due diligence. Spent 6 months using half the company to build a massive product. Launched it. No volume. Turns out the market they built the product for didn’t exist. Massive layoffs resulted. When asking for almost a million dollars, proving that a market exists should be a hard requirement.

Hello SmartAPE,

Thank you for your feedback and questions. We appreciate your concerns, and I’d like to clarify that our target audience extends beyond Yuga asset holders. Our platform is open to anyone worldwide, whether they are part of Web2 or Web3—anyone can participate.

Your points are valuable and will help us further refine and optimize our execution plan. Thank you again for your insights.

Hello Mattborchert,

Thank you for your feedback and questions. We agree your statement “Yuga holders are 90%+ male.”, and I’d like to clarify that our target audience extends beyond Yuga Labs asset holders. Our platform is open to anyone worldwide, anyone can participate.

Thank you.

Hello SmartAPE,

Thank you for taking the time to outline these points using ChatGPT. It’s possible that we didn’t clearly state in our AIP that our target market extends beyond Yuga asset holders—it encompasses a global audience.

Thanks

Thank you for your support @AllCityBAYC !!

Hello SmartAPE,

Thank you for the information. This is a valuable opportunity for us to examine the reasons why the “Lonely Ape Dating Club” was put on hold and make the necessary improvements to avoid similar issues in the future.

Thank You.

Hello Evil,

Thank you for the information. This is a valuable opportunity for us to examine the reasons why the “Lonely Ape Dating Club” was put on hold and make the necessary improvements to avoid similar issues in the future.

Thank You.

“Our goal is to increase the visibility and engagement of ApeCoin DAO by offering a dating service that bridges the Yuga Lab NFT collections, including Cryptopunks, BAYC, MAYC, BAKC, Meebits, KODA, and Mocaverse.”

“The platform could also serve as a gathering place for various NFT holders. Yuga Labs products, such as Cryptopunks, BAYC (Bored Ape Yacht Club), MAYC (Mutant Ape Yacht Club), BAKC (Bored Ape Kennel Club), Meebits, KODA, and Moonbirds, have already formed large community bases. These holders often share similar interests and values but are scattered across different platforms. A dedicated social platform can bring these NFT holders together again, creating a more centralized and enriched community platform than ever before, fostering connections and collaboration among them.”

Your AIP is very misleading in how it was positioned. Can you please have a human re-write your AIP? Given the amount of money that is being asked for here, using an AI chatbot to write your proposal is doing harm. Beyond this solutions with massive product market fit exist for the above problem. Twitter, Discord, and Telegram are a few examples.

Beyond this, by making users buy “Soul Ape” to purchase anything you’re simply adding friction. Remove that barrier. Dating apps, at least in the US, don’t use these sorts of manipulative abstractions anymore. Yes, they’re manipulative because they try to make it harder to understand how much money you’re actually spending when you make purchases. It’s just needless additional friction that will make users less likely to actually make a purchase. Dating apps are one of the most competitive models to go after. Reduce barriers, not build them.

Beyond this I encourage you to strip all of the c-suite titles out of this proposal. There is no product, there is no business. When you have one developer you have a developer, not a Chief Technology Officer. It looks silly.

And strip out any costs that aren’t crucial to build and launch this thing. The DAO would already be bootstrapping you to make the product, and the DAO will be taking on all of the risk. In return, anyone who works on this should risk their time. If you believe in the product, the pay will come back to you tenfold when it starts to earn revenue.

You have a “Social Media Officer” getting paid $45k to… answer questions on social media. This is an entry level social media job responsibility. I’d love to see what the absolute minimum funding would be to build and launch this. That number isn’t just below $800,000.

Take a look at the Blever AIP which did things right and showed respect to the DAO with the amount of money they asked for, and how they allocated that money. You’re asking for more than 4 times what they did. Your marketing costs alone are more than their entire request.

OK. So why did you specifically list Yuga IP?

And what makes you believe that Web2 people are going to abandon other pre-existing dating apps for this one made by a team that has zero experience in this sort of engagement?

Also, why are the CTO and CBO of the project anon?

@Johnny_2 contribution to the BAYC, ApeCoin community or various NFTs is undoubtable.
It is interesting to saw something like Tinder integrate with Web3 and Metaverse.
Btw, Web3 might be the double-edge sword for the platform; it could increase the onboarding effort if it doesn’t design well, and another risk I could think of now is personal safety, whereby people get dangerous when going from online to offline.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and suggestions, we understand your concerns about the way the proposal is presented and the competitive nature of the market, and we greatly appreciate your input. We recognize the importance of precision in how the proposal is presented. While we did use AI tools to assist in drafting the proposal, that does not mean there was a lack of human consideration. We reviewed the proposal to ensure it communicates the vision and details more clearly and accurately.

Based on your feedback, we will make further adjustments and continue optimizing the platform to enhance its competitiveness and user experience.

Once again, thank you for your time and constructive input.

Thanks
