Facilitator Note #21: Sustainability, Clarifications, and Progressive Moderation

Hello ApeCoin Community,

Lately, we’ve been working with AIP Authors to incorporate additional reporting-related clarifications into each AIP Draft. As mentioned in Facilitator Note #19, you may have noticed the addition of the “Reporting Expectations” section of the AIP Draft Template, which provides clarity and oversight for the community regarding expected proposal updates while allowing the author to establish their own timeframe, cadence and platform for reporting on the progress of their AIP.

We mentioned in our last Note that authors requesting a grant in excess of $100,000 should be prepared to structure their funding request in tranches (or milestone-based disbursements) when drafting an AIP; these authors are also encouraged to provide tranches within the range of $100k per month/disbursement, wherever possible. These proposed tranches would be visible for the community in an AIP’s Overall Cost section.

In the spirit of keeping ApeCoin DAO a welcoming space for thoughtful, productive discussions, we’d like to provide some context for the forum’s Progressive Moderation policy and Guidelines for Engagement. As stated in a previous Note, we encourage forum members to flag content that goes against our Guidelines. Upheld flags may, at the administration’s discretion, result in escalating disciplinary action including but not limited to: Initial Warning, 1-Day Silence, 2-week suspension, 3-month suspension, 1-year suspension, and/or permanent suspension. Anyone receiving a flag has the right to appeal the flag if they believe it was unwarranted.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in the ApeCoin DAO, and for doing your part to make this a productive, inclusive environment for everyone.

Best Regards,
ApeCoin DAO Community Discourse Facilitators

“At the administration’s discretion” really has no limits and could include indefinite suspension for any reason. Also, are the same people who give the suspensions the ones hearing the appeals? Are there rules on how the thresholds for a week’s suspension differ from a month or a year?

One of the main reasons that CityDAO ended was a lack of effective administrative moderation, so I appreciate this being closely monitored for the sake of community harmony. The language at CityDAO became so toxic that the entire DAO closed. I’m glad to see that won’t happen here.

I am not commenting on if this is a good or a bad decision, purely the process in the ApeCoin Dao?

Who approved this change of Governance process?

Currently, before AIP-466 voting cycle is complete, this authority is under the GWG and/or a snapshot vote. Please read this extract from AIP-239.

What is the appeal process? Are those that block the posts and or issue bans the same group we appeal against?

Can you put the work flow of the appeal process for:

  1. Accounts that have been suspended.
  2. Posts that have been removed at the moderators discretion.

Thank you.
