Nomination Statement

Concise statement on why you are running for the Special Council

I’m running for Special Council because I think I can contribute to the DAO in a positive way. I’m finishing a two-year term at my kids’ school PTA Board, and realized I was learning a lot, enjoyed the work, and was really good at it. This opportunity sparked my interest because I was already looking for other places I could continue doing governance work. Also, I’m always looking for ways to participate in projects and organizations within web3 that I believe in.

Motivation

Details on your motivation for becoming an ApeCoin DAO Special Council member

My main motivation is to actively participate in the development of the ApeCoin DAO. I am also very interested in learning more about new ways of governance and love the idea of helping shape the DAO to be more broadly used and known.

Rationale

Share relevant experience and skills that will bring value to the ApeCoin community

I think I can add value to the DAO, the Special Council, and the ApeCoin community by applying the skills I’ve gained in my professional experience and as Vice President of a PTA Board to the DAO. In my professional work, I have led teams to execute a common goal, coordinated the logistics of production shoots/events, and created content for air on time. During my term on the PTA Board, I oversaw multiple events being planned and executed at a time, coordinated communication with the membership, approved proposals and funding for events, implemented systems to help the organization run smoother, and contributed to changes in the bylaws.

Further describe relevant experience, including crypto and governance participation, and/or ideas for DAO improvement

I’ve been in the crypto/NFT space since the Fall of 2021 and am currently part of the Azurbala Community Council. Although I’m officially a part of other DAOs, $APE DAO is the only one that has motivated me to contribute and become more active.

I think the DAO could use some help with communications, although the graphics that Sera and Vulkan create are a huge leap ahead and the ApeComms spaces are really informative for a deeper dive. I also think more direct outreach with/to other projects like 10KTF and Benji Bananas that have a use case for ApeCoin would be a positive step. Incentivizing members of other communities outside of BAYC/MAYC to participate in the DAO directly will bring in a more diverse pool of proposals and voters. I also wonder if there’s another option to Discourse. It’s very difficult to navigate, and maybe even intimidating for people wanting to get more involved.

Summarize your statement as to why you are the best choice for Special Council

I think I’m a great choice for Special Council because I have some experience in governance, am a creative person with a strong analytical/logistical side, and really enjoy working on projects that involve both. My strengths are in problem-solving, remaining neutral and balanced while making decisions, and communications. I take ownership and responsibility for all of my work, and I’m easy to work with.

My number one question I am asking to all nominees is, in your opinion what is the biggest hurdle we’ve yet to get past in the DAO?

Lola, I always say the moms and dads here in this space are superhuman! That alone is goddess status. Beyond that, your contribution to the space immense and impactful. Love what you wrote about use case for ApeCoin. Excited to see you run & best of luck!

Gm Phil!! The biggest hurdle that I see is defining what the DAO can do for people, and then communicating the mission in a way that invites people to contribute and participate. How do we make ApeCoin DAO something that serves all of web3 and then make sure that people understand it? Steps are already in motion with the mission statement AIP and the upcoming Comms WG AIP, which is great, so the next hurdle would be for the WGs to execute a unified, strategic and intentional plan to clarify the DAO’s mission. Another hurdle that I see happening sort of parallel to this (and possibly hindering the first hurdle) is the length of time that it takes to get an AIP passed. The Governance Stewards will be tasked to create systems and coordinate the operations to manage this obstacle. Appreciate the question! Thanks @phibacka31 :sparkling_heart:
