Nomination Statement

As a BAYC member since May 2021, I am running for special council to provide a strategic vision based view to all things ApeCoin DAO. Some know me as 8uddha the fun life of the party type, but more so all of my IRL/doxxed activities have been focused on moving this space forward from a technical and adoption perspective. I would be honored to serve on this council to deliver meaningful value to the community.

Motivation

I have told this story to some of the Yuga founders, but all things yugaverse have dramatically change my direction and trajectory in life. While working in blockchain solutions/web3 since 2016, back then, it was an uphill battle for me working with Fortune 100 trying to educate and enable them for this future. BAYC has allowed me to drive greater focus, connect, and co-build with like minded leaders in and near this space. My work with Unit London is a great example of helping a traditional art gallery and driving them from initially a separate brand/company for web3 to helping them fully integrate web3 into the core business. Specifically with ApeCoin, I am motivated seeing teams like Snap Solutions and other teams propose AIPs while also continuing to refine based on community feedback. As a member of the Special Council, I feel it is our responsibility to help promote how the ApeCoin ecosystem is growing while also help motivate and drive other innovators to seek support and proposals that will create near term and long standing value.

Rationale

My friends and colleagues have told me that my super power is a master facilitator and connector. I am always looking for opportunities to create ways to collaborate and drive value regardless of personal financial gain. It is my passion to help others succeed. I think communication is key, and during my time as the Global Blockchain Advisory leader for a public consultancy, I co-authored a number of educational papers and led workshops to take complex technical topics and communicate to companies of all maturity. At ChangeDAO, I used my experience participating and support other DAOs to drive a new robust framework for measuring decentralization and “dao-ness.” ChangeDAO is focused on creating solutions that elevate NFTs as a force for change as well as simplify the giving process within crypto. Specifically at Solidity.io and as part of my 8uddha advisory work, I help a number of projects with tokenomics strategy, technology integration approach, go-to-market, as well as workplan and roadmap sequencing and prioritization. Finally, I used to be a Buddhist monk and battle rapper, and while drastically different, through my career I have had the unique ability to stay calm under pressure.

Specifications

At Solidity.io I spend time helping DAOs, platforms, protocols, and projects with their governance strategy which basically means defining a clear governance framework, decision making and escalations, and feedback loops. Additionally, specifically have help lead DAO formation and web3 platform for ChangeDAO. At Unit London, I help lead the technical vision for the NFT marketplace and define the opportunities for automation and insight.

Concluding Statement

I love the yugaverse, I love BAYC, and ApeCoin is the community owned component of this. My life has been focused on helping people take things to a higher level - similar to the Buddha. That is what web3 is about, unburden your self from financial concerns and elevate the ability to collaborate to build cool and new things. I will dedicate my time to take ApeCoin DAO to a new level of community engagement and supporting solutions driving sustainable value.

A few points I have mentioned in twitter spaces.

  1. Special Council members should be Servant Council Members
The primary role of the special council is to not to evoke personal will, but to serve as a servant council member supporting the vision of the community, administration of the DAO/treasury, and enabling members to raise high quality AIPs

  2. A DAO is not a web2 corporation
Vision needs to be collaboratively shaped community not by any single council member.
Any infrastructure being created (sub-daos) should have a clear plan for ongoing performance management to ensure metrics are being realized or the area should be dissolved as well as have a plan for further decentralization and automation.

  3. This role is full time. My time is for the community.
To be able to operate at the speed and need of the community. Certain members (if not all) of the special council should be providing significant hours.

These hours would include:
A. Assessment and Recommendation Loop
Review and discussion of frameworks and solutions that may add value to the DAO
i. Via special council collaboration
ii. Community assessment on challenges and opportunities
ii. Researching and collaborating with other DAO, web2/web3 partners.

B. Digestable Education and Enablement of DAO members
From this we need to also educate the DAO members and let them decide if these elements would bring value. We should invite other DAOs (MakerDAO, Gearbox Protocol) to help educate the DAO on what has and has not worked for them. We need to provide structure and more guidance to DAO members to transform ideas to AIPs.

C. AIP Development support and strategy
My particular expertise is helping people articulate vision into a strategy, proposal, business cases, pitches. I have done this for Fortune 500 C-Suite, for leaders across a bank to best spend $8B in transformational spending, as well as a number of start-ups and web3 projects.

I would like to make my time/calendar available to meet DAO members “where they are” to help them create AIPs that will add value to ApeCoin while also providing them the opportunity to have the funding to focus on that realization. I will also use my time to drive partnerships based on these AIPs to help bring them to scale where applicable, increasing value and impact.

Hi @8uddha, I am asking all candidates these same questions:

  1. If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO? (Let’s pretend you only had the time and energy to make a personal push for one item - what would it be?)

  2. Are there any factors in your life that may limit your ability to serve? (conflicts of interest, time allocation, limited wifi bc you work from Starbucks… etc)

  3. What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in it’s current state?

  4. What is a Koda?

Thank you,
F/S

Thanks for the questions.

  1. If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO? (Let’s pretend you only had the time and energy to make a personal push for one item - what would it be?)

As special council, if I could only leverage that role for one thing, I would ensure the support of world class high quality AIPs from members and ensure new voices emerge. I know my super power is helping transform an idea to strategy to partnerships to delivery. I have done this for CEOs/CFOs/CIOs of the worlds largest companies and now I want to share this with Apecoin DAO members

  1. Are there any factors in your life that may limit your ability to serve? (conflicts of interest, time allocation, limited wifi bc you work from Starbucks… etc)

The biggest issue for me is related to time allocation to my family. I know that this will take from them, BUT as mentioned during twitter spaces, I am will to take a leave of absence during my time as council member to give full time working hours to Apecoin DAO. This is the only way I see that proper focus and pace will be given to this role for me. I am all in.

  1. What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in it’s current state?

**I hate that bear market blues and mindsets that are trapped in their non-web3 jobs have people focused on cost and not value. We have an opportunity to build and create value. Anyone with a single apecoin can. We wanted and need better comms and transparency but refuse to compensate the team so they can be dedicated. I hate that many that vote only see what is taken from the DAO treasury and fail to realize the exponential value that is possible with focus. We are not utilizing sub-daos at all which make progress slow. Also, to be clear - I am anti-infrastructure for the sake of infrastructure but support great people to be paid very well for what they do and the value they generate while also mutually agreeing upfront the terms and metrics that they will continue to be measured on and removed in timely fashion if deemed not effective. **

  1. What is a Koda?

**:face_with_symbols_over_mouth: is a koda you ask?!?! Guide to enlightenment? Helper to financial freedom? Character in a metaverse game that will help us unlock more apecoin value? **

Based on what I know from yuga. It is something to not fade. It is something that will enrich the yuga verse storytelling. And it is it something we will all learn more about likely in q3 2023

Hi @8uddha — here’s my priority issue I’m asking all candidates:

How will you connect worthwhile devs and builders who don’t want to be shillers/influencers to the entities within ApeCoin that can fund and expand ideas?

Finding high quality developers, web3 engineers, vfx artists, 2d3d artists, game developers is one of the most challenging things to do in this space. That is why over the last few years I have worked to assemble 2 collectives - 8uddha (web3 engineer) collective and pixel_unit collective.

8uddha collective began from the concept for bringing together loosely held dev circles of talented developers that enjoyed working together but did not want to stay within a full time role. Basically, identifying a cool project and deciding terms that would be reasonable for senior devs without any overhead costs. Additionally some of the members of 8uddha have English as a second language and are often have been over looked from senior roles because of this and I wanted to help them get their justifiable rates. To be clear, I have received compensation on projects where I served an active role (CIO as a service, pm, etc).

Pixel_Unit was founded by myself, senior 3d modeler Richardo Alves, best known for his work at Disney, and a few other core team members. The focus here was to elevate vfx and other types of artists while also providing a platform for artists to contribute anonymously if under contract with a studio. While this model of a collective avoids significant overhead charged by traditional studios and agencies, there is a small premium on all projects to increase a treasury that all active artist members can propose to use. To be clear, I have not received any compensation and serve to drive web3 enablement and strategy for this collective.

This is where I would begin as the cost model for these collectives are typically lower but the expertise is very high. This would cover technical development, art, gaming but there are many builders that do not fit into these pillars that would require education and enablement in terms of how best that can contribute. This would need to be through Twitter spaces, office hours with me, and identifying mentor pairing for those less experienced in an area but have strong passion for it.

The comment on shilling is interesting because in reality the vast majority are typically always shilling something - ourselves, our bags, our services, etc. As I have tried to advocate for, those with just a single ape coin could create an AIP, and if there is a way to align their existing focus or passion to creating value for apecoin DAO. A great example of this is I recently spoke with someone interested in web3 enablement and writing education pieces. Could this person do this with apecoin dao, yes. I have also seen my Friend working on children’s books related to Nouns DAO, with majority of proceeds going to children’s hospitals, could this be done with apecoin dao, yes.
