Hi ApeCoin DAO Community,
@MemeBrains has responded to our questions and has provided consent to share them in this forum for the community.
1. Is the Ape Foundation expected to engage in any of the steps of the AIP implementation? If so, please specify the steps and elaborate on how it is expected to work.
No. We got this. Would be helpful to have an open dialogue as we proceed, chat style, idea discussion etc, but no specific needs from Foundation.
2. Would you be collecting any user data during their interactions? If so, please elaborate on the data you would collect and your security plans.
Very limited data collection. No names, no addresses, no ID, no KYC. We’ll know which wallets or payment methods people use to buy display space from, and we’ll know which users follow us on twitter, users can optionally enter any email to create an account, that’s it for now. Maybe in the future we’ll open a Discord and see user Discord IDs, and maybe someday in the future that’ll evolve, but that’s far off in the future. Subject to change if some jurisdictional compliance requirement forces me to.
3. If Web3 connectivity is required, is there a security audit plan in place, and will you share the audit report with the ApeCoin DAO?
No Web3 connectivity required on any code we produce etc. We’re leveraging Snapshot for everything that requires a connection. For example, when we give the display spots to 5k $APE holders, we’re verifying those wallets through a Snapshot vote and unique id code ppl insert in their snapshot vote. When ppl pay for add space they simply deposit to our account and we check it. I don’t want that liability, I’m guessing the Foundation doesn’t either, and ppl don’t need any more risks.
4. Would your expectation be to retain complete ownership of content produced from this proposal?
Yes we intend to own 100% of all the IP, the biz model, the corp equity, etc etc.
5. Would the price of ApeCoin at the time of disbursement have an impact on the success of this initiative?
Good question. We were budgeting our IRL costs when I posted the initial 150k $APE ask and I see now the price just tanked. When I reduced the ask down to the current 75k you see now, I hadn’t factored in the price tank that just happened too. We were budgeting for approx $120k expenses for the 6mths give or take a bit. May I change the $APE ask to reflect that?
6. Your proposal states “for however long the Ape community continues to support this initiative, a further 1% of all revenue will be sent into the ApeCoin Treasury on-going.” Please provide an example(s) of continued community support.
This one is a massive offer to the DAO treasury. If we succeed in scaling this, as we intend to, and reach Unicorn size with 100M+ in rev, the DAO benefits in a massive way. I therefore need to keep this one flexible and at my discretion. A dramatic example of if Ape was ‘not’ supporting the venture though, would be, if Ape tweeted ‘we hate these guys’. Or if Ape stopped replying to communications. Or if the Ape community just started hating on us, etc, etc. Or some other clear issue. I need to keep discretion on this otherwise my future investors will balk at a 1% lifetime royalty with no strings, and this particular one is too intricate to predict that far in advance. I hope you see that as fair.
7. Your proposal allocates a portion of all ad space to be reserved for free use by the ApeCoin DAO as it sees fit, what process do you propose these community decisions be made?
I’m open on this
Some spots can be reserved directly for the foundation to use at it’s discretion, and/or hand off to GWG or Marketing Group etc to work with, however you/they like. Some spots are directly given to 5k $APE hodlers to use as they like too. If you have a preference, lemme know.
8. Your proposal outlines “a quantity of TBD display space will be reserved for use by the ApeCoin DAO” and ecosystem friends. Do you have any estimates of how much billboard space or time this may be?
Tough to say precisely, however, in the AIP I basically said approx 10% of all display spots. This isn’t intended to be science, more general, we’ll ask for ppl to tweet to claim their spots, super simple, clean, and straight forward.
9. As per the ApeCoin General Guidelines, “proposals will not be put up for vote if they involve illegal activity, hate speech, pornographic material, or are at odds with the mission or values of the APE Foundation.” Can you ensure that the content on the billboards will be in keeping with these guidelines?
Yup. All content will be filtered to remove such content. I don’t want that stuff going up either. Part of my Opex in the AIP to do this manually. AI filtering helps, but I’ve done this before, and I don’t want any slip ups from the automation side, so manual check is kinda the only way atm.
10. “20% of all revenue will be sent into the ApeCoin DAO treasury until the full cost of this AIP is returned.”
Is there an expected schedule for the distribution of this revenue back to the DAO treasury?
I’d like to reserve the right to do payments Quarterly though, just in case there’s edge cases of refunds or whatnot I might have to deal with or whatnot that are difficult to predict in advance.
We’ll start with a post-event analysis of the top-line rev, then send 20% of any and all rev gen from the initiative back to the treasury before the end of the next Quarter. So let’s say, by June 30st, 2024, the 20% of rev from the ETH Denver event will be sent to the DAO. Future payouts would follow a similar style and flow, so basically depends on when/where the next event is, or when we get a physical highway billboard etc, seems reasonable, I would think.
11. Do you provide consent to apply updates to the relevant areas of your proposal based on your responses to the questions above?
Yes.
12. Do you provide consent to share these questions with the community in this forum?
Yes.
A DAR package is being worked on and upon completion this AIP will move into Administrative Review. Follow this Topic as further updates will be posted here in the comments.
Kind Regards,
