Nomination Statement

Concise statement on why you are running for the Special Council

As a long time member and supporter of the overall ecosystem, I would like to contribute to the DAO/ community in a more meaningful way. As a special council member I will use my platform to drive awareness to the DAO, embrace the current values/ direction of the DAO as stated from day 1 and use my skills and experience to make a difference day to day as a strong and experienced representative of the community.

Motivation

Details on your motivation for becoming an ApeCoin DAO Special Council member

I believe in the future of the DAO and its impact on driving culture into the metaverse and beyond. We are a grants DAO, but we are also a culture DAO. I would like to see the overall community embrace the founding values of ApeCoin DAO which is clearly stated on the website:

Culture has found new expression in web3 through art, gaming, entertainment, and events. The possibilities for blockchainā€™s impact on culture are so endless that they canā€™t possibly all be predicted yet. $APE is a token made to support whatā€™s next, controlled and built on by the community. It will serve as a decentralized protocol layer for community-led initiatives that drive culture forward into the metaverse.

I believe these founding values are truly the foundation for the DAO to be thinking and making decisions on. I would like to see us lean into this statement more and embrace this vision. We have the opportunity to build on top of this foundation NOW and moving forward. Ultimately the role of the special council is to support the will of the DAO and the will of the overall DAO is based on the AIPs presented and the end result of the voting.

Rationale

Share relevant experience and skills that will bring value to the ApeCoin community

As a business owner for the last 15 years, my company has grown from 5 employees to well over 100 employees with multiple divisions and service coverage of the SouthEast United States. During that time and growth I gained invaluable experience on how to grow and scale a company and set it up for success into the future. One of the most important things I learned during that time is to get the right people in the right seats. I could not have had the success I have had without the amazing people around me. We accomplished this as a team by sharing a common vision and executing on that vision. We are in a similar place now with the DAO where I believe we as a community, with the current vision of the DAO, can align and drive culture forward into the metaverse. I am used to working with a team, asking questions, getting feedback, thinking critically, and making decisions and moving forward. At this point in my life, I have the freedom and opportunity to pursue other passions in my career. For me, that is continuing to be more involved in driving this space and specifically this DAO and ecosystem forward.

Further describe relevant experience, including crypto and governance participation, and/or ideas for DAO improvement

I have been an active voting member of the DAO since inception and have been an active participant in discussions across different mediums, including spaces and discourse. I have also personally read and given feedback to several AIPs that have impacted the final proposal. I have also been on various boards IRL for the last 10 years and understand how to work in these types environments and the perspective and talents each person can bring for the benefit of all. Regarding DAO improvements, I would like to see the DAO embrace the founding ideas as stated on the Ape Coin website and continue to drive towards further decentralization. I would like to see the DAO continue to grow through working groups that focus on embracing these values and continue to find ways to support the community and get more involvement.

Summarize your statement as to why you are the best choice for Special Council

I have the experience and voice to make a difference for the DAO and strongly believe I can make a bigger difference working from the inside out, rather than the outside in. I am a rational thinker that takes in info, asks questions, listens to others, and makes decisions. I believe this rational approach will be extremely valuable navigating the behind the scenes responsibilities of the position as well as the community facing aspects of the position. I support Capetain Trippy with full heart & mind! I didnā€™t even know who he was but what I do remember is he was one of the first people who was genuinely suggesting me when I applied for AIP215. For a new comer to receive such valuable information is not just welcoming it also means that there are people in the DAO who cares about the DAO itself. As per his suggestions in public, real reasons, we changed majority of our AIP & look today we are probably the first company to get one time usage of The ApeCoin logo itself! It is not a small thing itā€™s MEGA! I am absolutely confident that CT (CapetainTrippy) will take the entire DAO even more further with his position as a special council. First & foremost he helped me when didnā€™t have those powers now imagine when come with compassion & empathy & willingness to help others & the DAO imagine how much good things will come for the entire APE ecosytem! Iā€™d ask everyone to vote for CT anyday! Thank you CT (hugs)

Captain, Captain, Captainā€¦ (pronounced Cape-tain, donā€™t let him tell you any different.)

Captain has been a long-term ape supporter and has managed to accumulate quite the holdings over time. One would likely classify him as one of the sea loving aquatic mammals known as a whale. While there are certainly a handful of well-known whales in the Ape ecosystem, I do not believe many of them would be well qualified for this role. But Captain is different.

Many whales are known to splash around and dump their holdings on a whim, causing cascading negative effects for an ecosystem. Thatā€™s all fine and good. Itā€™s their holdings and they are certainly entitled to do what they want. Still, these actions can deeply harm smaller holders who feel the impacts of the waves from their much smaller positions.

Captain is different. Across every project where I know he has major holdings, he thinks about how his actions will impact others in that ecosystem first. This applies to both how he trades, but also about how he communicates and shares his thoughts about that project. If a project stumbles in a major way does he dump his bags and FUD their error? No. He works with that team to try to figure out what happened and then figures out how he can help them. I know for sure in some circumstances this behavior pattern has caused him great losses. His first priority was on the team in question and the others involved in that ecosystem. Not many people would do this.

I want people in this position who I believe will look out for all of the Ape holders while trying to help guide the ecosystem into a healthy direction. I know Captain will do his best to make this happen. I also believe heā€™s trying to do this for reasons that I would label as ā€œright.ā€ Heā€™s not chasing the title or attention, heā€™s not chasing the pay for the role, he is hoping to make a positive impact while helping others along the way.

We need more people like this in both the DAO as well as the greater crypto ecosystem, so Iā€™m happy to support Captain (remember, pronounced Cape-tain) in his campaign.

@apecoincarpetman thank you for the quality and professionalism you have brought with your AIP and the $ape coin rug. I believe over time there will be a huge amount of $ape coin products to come through the process and you can be proud in knowing yours was first. Really enjoyed reading about your background, and have always appreciated your level headed and rational voice that youā€™ve brought from the very start. If you ask anyone in the space to count the most recognizable Apes on their two hands, 10 times out of 10 you will see a finger reserved for Cap.

No doubt you are one of the most respected, knowledgeable, and qualified members of the community for this role. Passion is something that canā€™t be forced, and itā€™s clear that you always have the communities best interests at heart. Admirable that you always give time to smaller creators for constructive criticism in order to push their visions and potential forward and make a positive impact.

Very exciting for the entire community to see you throw your hat in the ring, and reading more about your IRL history proves that youā€™ve ā€˜been there / done thatā€™ - vital in a space where actions speak louder than words.

Been following with notifications on for almost two years, that doesnā€™t necessarily allow one to ā€œknowā€ someoneā€™s character - but gives a pretty good sense, and was fortunate to meet a couple times in NYC at a couple events. Good luck with the vote! I think youā€™d be a great choice for this. Cheers.
