And you nailed it. Community-driven, culture-focused content is what we are all about. Keeps things fun and informative while bringing a whole new level of interaction with a physical publication where users can actually become a part of the project.
Do you already have any connections with distributors/retailers that could get these in stores? The main issue I see is going to be convincing the retailers to buy the NFT to get the physicals - I am not sure if retailers are ready for that. However, I would like to suggest a wild idea. If the NFT backed physical of each issue was a different edition, and an equal amount of “generic” issues were made for distribution, you might be able to kill two birds with one stone with each edition
Great suggestions!! There will definitely be adjustments made once we’re able to advance into a broader distribution model outside of the immediate NFT space. Some of those include providing beginner tools for consumers through in-magazine QR codes linking hardware wallet providers; Metamask; Coinbase; Opensea; partner projects; and claimable NFTs. Another option that’s been discussed is producing a series of Beyond the SWAMP how-to videos breaking down the basics of getting started with NFTs. But keeping all of that in mind, we are still at least one year away from those discussions.
Either way I’m really loving the passion Emoney! And happy to have you contributing in the DAO… Please keep these awesome suggestions flowing!! We are always all ears!!!
Hey @AllCityBAYC - very cool idea and nice to see that print is alive and well!
Do you plan on producing these locally? I’ve got a few print connections in Vancouver I’ve developed over the past 15 years, happy to make any intros as needed. Aside from that, free to reach out if you need a hand with anything on the design/layout side - would love to help out.
Looking forward to seeing the idea evolve, and you have our full support however you need!
Is the smaller opening number in order to create artificial scarcity and establish momentum? I feel like the demand might support a larger initial quantity, which might allow for the timeline on production of secondary content like “Welcome to the Swamp” videos. Has the idea of selling a handful of yearly subscriptions been examined?
More so our way to grow readership organically during difficult market conditions while providing an ability to build off of each issue’s success… Also given the strong feedback we’ve received so far combined with the NFT space picking up a little of late, we are taking a closer look at increasing first-issue production at no additional cost to the DAO. And love the idea of yearly subscriptions!! Definitely something on our radar
I went with a shop out in Langley that did a great job on my books but we’re always looking to maximize cost-effectiveness without compromising quality so would love to explore your options as well. And really appreciate offering your support. This project is all about becoming collaborative endeavour and would love to connect. Maybe you, me and @12GAUGE can link up in the new year.

Based off of some great feedback from the review team, we have made a minor adjustment within our overall USDC spend to allow for a third party website and smart contract audit. Please note that this does not effect our overall grant request cost, we simply reduced spending in one area to free up funds for another.
Hope that everyone had an amazing holiday and remain as excited for 2023 as we are…

DAO fam… For everyone that can’t always watch presentation videos or able to download PDFs on your device, we wanted to drop our slides in the thread for an easier option to check out more of what we’re up to. Feel free to scroll up a few posts or head to our PITCH DECK subheading within our proposal at the top of the page to view.
As always, feel free to drop any questions/feedback/comments below and looking forward to the rest of the AIP proposal process.
I agree with @NFTC - absolutely love this idea but puzzled by the limited run - would love to see this distributed to a broader audience vs just to a select few lucky enough to mint within our space
Fox… Appreciate you chiming in. First issue count definitely feels modest; particularly as the space heats up again this past few weeks. Rationale was to keep our grant request low while we got on our feet w/the majority of DAO funding going toward company development. But I will say based off of a strong public and private response, adjusting print numbers is high on our radar. Keeping that in mind, I’m cautious to raise our overall ask at this stage of the process but confident that if we did opt for a bigger first run, any additional funds could be secured internally.
The only other thing I would add is that zoomed out, we’re still looking at a minimum of 3850 units of meaningful content spread out over our first year. But we hear you and your opinion is quite important to us. Will be reaching out further on Twitter
As discussed, I love the product that you are envisioning and hope it comes to fruition. As stated in our convo, I strongly feel that everyone who wants a copy to this magazine should get an opportunity to purchase (within a reasonable timeframe of course) vs it being a limited supply that only a select few will be able to procure and collect.
Was a good convo… And you brought up some strong perspective. Primary goal is to bring communities together through ApeCoin and the quality content we’re able to produce, so being able to provide adequate distribution to a more reasonable amount of readers able to benefit from those goals only seems fair. The last thing we want happening is to let someone down who wanted one but couldn’t due to supply. Keeping that in mind, I am still a firm believer in being cautious during startup periods but confident we could accommodate a slightly larger first-issue run.
Grant request + budget and budget breakdown will remain the same for the DAO and we pick up any associated additional costs if we choose to go that route. But we’ll need Apes like you on our side to help grow a broader visibility to make this happen. And would grateful for it along the way.
Appreciate the interest on what we’re doing and look forward to our next chat
