AIP-434: [Resubmission] Other Page: A Player Network & Rewards Hub for ApeChain

ORIGINAL PROPOSAL

RESUBMISSION UPDATES

The original concept for Other Page (Made by Apes #00190) was to create a simple profile for Ape holders (Ape Page). This idea was limited in both its utility and its ability to bring value to the DAO. Since then, not only has our vision evolved substantially, but several critical events have occurred:

  1. The ApeChain proposal was passed.

  2. CR3 Labs, our parent company, won AIP-326 (aka. Canopy).

  3. Other Page has garnered significant traction including support for over 55 collections, key partnerships, and onboarding over one thousand Yugaverse active community members since coming out of closed beta earlier this year.

Our traction combined with the evolution of the ecosystem over the last year provides us with an opportunity to use Other Page to bring significant value to the ApeCoin DAO, the community, and ApeChain.

This resubmission outlines our plan to leverage Other Page to accelerate ApeChain adoption through the use of new incentives & rewards functionality and an Avatar Connect SSO solution.

The product expansion will provide ApeChain with critical incentive mechanisms to onboard new games and users into the ApeChain ecosystem through the use of 2D/3D avatars, community management tools, and ApeCoin rewards. In addition, it will drastically reduce the friction of user on-boarding to the ecosystem.

PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

The Open Metaverse unlocks the ability for gamers to move from one experience to another and take their data with them. This enables much deserved freedom for gamers but creates new challenges for platforms to engage and retain them.

In this decentralized world, Other Page is a Player Network and Rewards Platform centered around the one place gamers always return: Their Avatars.

Other Page consists of 3 primary components:

  1. Avatar system - Create your avatar profile page. Avatar profiles enable one-click connect to any integrated experience or application and enable you to own and flex your legacy across the Open Metaverse. Other Page currently supports 16 different PFP collections as avatars and an additional 40 different NFT collections with more on the way.

  2. Community system - Community relationship management (CRM) dashboard that enables projects/games and their sub-communities to manage their members & increase engagement.

  3. Rewards system - A decentralized and permissionless system enabling projects, games, and communities to reward their members with tokens and NFTs (enabled by AIP-326).

Benefits for ApeCoin & ApeChain

  1. Promotes the usage of ApeCoin by helping players discover and transact with the various experiences built on ApeChain, thus generating additional transaction fees for ApeChain & revenue for the ApeCoin DAO.

  2. Facilitate ApeChain user onboarding - Currently we have around half of the active gaming ecosystem within the Yugaverse using our platform. Other Page reduces friction for ApeChain user onboarding by giving users a 1-click connect to all integrated ApeChain experiences and removes the need to bridge ApeCoin or their assets to ApeChain.

Benefits for Users of Other Page

  1. New profiles receive free ApeChain $APE to reduce friction of the first bridge to ApeChain.

  2. Earn rewards ($APE, NFTs, badges) for participating in project activations.

  3. Preserve legacy across ecosystems through on-chain badges.

  4. Makes flexing avatars (2D/3D), achievements, & in-game items across all experiences easily shareable.

  5. Enables utility discovery across all owned digital assets as well as the entire ApeChain ecosystem.

Benefits for Gaming & Community Companies

  1. Provides tooling to acquire & reward community members. With opportunities to work with supported rewards providers to offer varying reward types including $APE, MBA products, APES+, on-chain badges, points, and more.

  2. Avatar profiles and community involvement fosters emotional connection to assets and experiences, improving user engagement, retention, & monetization.

  3. The platform’s token gated and player-first experience means that all members are curated, and genuine. This enables projects to target high-value and loyal customers and mitigates sybil attacks.

Case Studies

Case Study - 10KTF Grailed

In one of our initial pilots, a badge system for 10KTF (by Yuga Labs) resulted in $55,000 Otherdeeds purchases by Grailed avatar holders within 72 hours of the badge rollout. The campaign strengthened emotional ties and utility of the Grailed avatar collection through a simple Otherdeed / Grailed matching mechanic.

Case Study - Thank APE Badges

We’re working directly with Thank APE to add a rewards mechanic to earning badges. This adds an additional incentive layer to completing the tasks associated with a badge in return for additional $APE.

Case Study - Ambassador Program w/MBA Rewards

We rolled out a pilot program to empower our passionate users to become ambassadors for the platform, driving growth, engagement, and advocacy while contributing to the ongoing evolution and success of Other Page. Our 13 ambassadors that signed up helped us drive user growth, enhance awareness, and provide product feedback. To reward their efforts we sourced products from 7 different MBA brands, which were assembled into curated gift boxes and sent to ambassadors that qualified. We plan to integrate learnings from this program and MBA products into the Other Page reward system, more on this soon…

Case Study - [REDACTED] Game 1

The pilot project enables [redacted] to add ApeCoin to their game, create token-gated buffs based on connected Other Page player avatar profiles, and the ability to store and distribute ApeCoin rewards. Players will also earn badges based on aggregates of their seasonal rankings through the Other Page platform.

Partners & Integrations

Other Page is partnered with Magic Eden, Rarible, Thank APE, Apes+, Solidity.io, Otherside Wiki, and Zharta with many more on the way.

Magic Eden - a bi-directional link between Other Page & Magic Eden. On Magic Eden, users are able to dive deeper into the background of any wallet with outbound links to the wallet’s Other Page. From Other Page, users are able to discover NFTs and avatars for sale on Magic Eden.

Rarible - Other Page is working with Rarible to bring white labeled avatar profile experiences to our joint clients.

APES+ - Other Page is partnered with APES+ to recognize builders, reward collectors, unite communities, and bring greater awareness to opportunities for holders to get involved and earn rewards through whitelist access and token drops.

Faraway - easily add a link to your Other Page in your Faraway Storefront and have it be displayed on your public Faraway profile page.

Thank APE (scheduled) - an API integration that allows Thank APE to distribute rewards based on Other Page badges that you hold, and for Other Page to award badges for Thank APE achievements.

Improbable (in progress) - Other Page is in the process of integrating Improbable M^2 tooling to enable interactive models and avatars on profiles.

Sequence (pending) - Other Page is in the process of being integrated as an SSO (single sign-on) option in Sequence, enabling Other Page users to sign up for games & apps with a single click and bring their profiles with them.

Somnia Network (pending) - Other Page will act as one of the primary avatar viewers for Somnia-based Avatars and will be a compatible dApp in the Somnia Browser.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM

Other Page will drive value to the ApeCoin & ApeChain ecosystems in several ways:

  1. Promote the usage of ApeCoin - help players discover and transact with the various games built on ApeChain, thus generating additional transaction fees for ApeChain.

  2. Facilitate ApeChain user onboarding - currently we have around half of the active gaming ecosystem within the Yugaverse using our platform. Other Page Connect, our SSO solution, makes wallet creation and connection to any game/project painless. New accounts are airdropped ApeChain $APE to prevent the need to bridge their first ApeCoin.

  3. Improve discovery - the community management, game discovery features, and on-chain badges will enable better discovery, leading to better monetization, and increased revenue back to ApeChain & the ApeCoin DAO.

  4. Facilitate achievements & reward distribution - using ApeCoin as the default reward token for the platform. Rewards and on-chain badges help incentivize players and games to use ApeChain.

  3. API / SDK

The Other Page API & SDK enables game and application developers to integrate the Other Page Avatars and Communities programmatically.

    i. Connect and authenticate members to your experiences and retrieve a unified view of their profiles across all of their wallets (delegations).

ii. Retrieve on and off chain data about communities, members and achievements.

iii. Create and attribute gasless on-chain badges or off-chain badges to community members.

This proposal would score very highly on any formal assessment that I would create.

Well developed plan. Proven team. Addresses the things I look to be addressed.

Dialed in.

Agree with AC. Very well thought out and is in line the interest of the DAO (e.g. increasing demand for $APE).

Would this just be available for Web3 native users with supported PFPs, or could this be designed to expand in order to bring “normies” into the ecosystem.

Agreed on both counts. Well thought out, and 2-pronged approach: appeals to web3 native, and can be used to onboard new user base.

Also, nearly 1/2 of the ask going back to the community.

Love it.

very detailed proposal but I cant help myself… I see a cow being milked again.

Will you raise a Seed Round by your VCs as well?
Can you disclose how much equity they got for 1.1M?
I imagine it would be a dream for them if you “raise” another 1.5m$ and they do not even get diluted.
Same applies to the equity of the founders.
Why are you not offering the DAO equity?

You already received 0.5m and now ask for another 1.5m.

I am just tired of the DAO funding startups and getting nothing in return.
High risk, most likely no reward is not a very sustainable investment strategy.

I agree, More clarification is needed on how the company would generate revenue since thats would help this project sustain in longer term.

Appreciate your candid feedback Kodama. To answer your questions:

Yes, We plan to pursue additional fundraising in the near future for Other Page

After consulting with our counsel they suggested that we avoid giving equity to the DAO to avoid potential legal risks and complicating future raises that we plan to do. Additionally, multiple projects that we’ve spoken with that have attempted to give the DAO equity are experiencing added legal complexity.

Lastly, equity is actually a much longer time frame (~5+ years) and a higher risk type of return for the DAO in comparison to immediate use cases for ApeCoin/Chain.

We believe our project brings considerable value to the DAO, which we’ve outlined in the BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM section of the proposal, particularly promoting the usage of ApeCoin & facilitating ApeChain user onboarding.

Arguably, the #1 thing the DAO needs to generate revenue is a high volume of transactions on ApeChain and additional use cases for ApeCoin to drive demand. We’re confident Other Page helps with both in a big way.

Yes, CR3 Labs, Inc. has already undergone KYC/KYB with the ApeCoin Foundation.

  1. Have you obtained consent from all of the listed partners for the collaboration outlined in the Other Page proposal? Can you please share the consent?

Everything we’ve shared is public information and no formal consent is required to include integrations & partners that we currently have in our proposal. To elaborate on this a bit here is additional information on the various partnerships & integrations we have in the proposal.

Advisors listed on the proposal will not be compensated.

  16. Regarding the suggested Rewards Committee, have you already identified its members? If yes, please share who they are. If not, what will be the selection process for these members?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. a. Will the Rewards Committee have complete control over the distribution of the proposed 500,000 ApeCoin in rewards?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.
b. Who would ultimately oversee and control this distribution?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. If approved, is there a mechanism in place to remove the Rewards Committee or its members? If so, how would this process work?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. What criteria would be used to evaluate members or projects for the suggested rewards distribution?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. Will there be avenues for community feedback, oversight, or governance over the proposed rewards distribution process?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. How much influence will the Other Page core team have on the distribution of the proposed 500,000 ApeCoin in rewards?

N/A: Rewards Committee element removed by author.

  1. Based on the responses to the community in the comment section, it appears that you anticipate raising third-party capital. The preference of the Ape Foundation in the past has been to clarify this sort of information directly in the AIP, including who these anticipated third parties are, the expected fundraising period and any existing decks. You may provide the clarifications here for us, and we will help with applying them to your proposal.

We intend to raise a Seed round if our proposal passes but do not have a deck or any confirmed investors at this time.

  1. Your Overall Cost is listed at “1.3m $APE”, while some of your line items appear to be denoted in USD, totalling $1,620,000 USD total (or 1,372,882 $APE). Please clarify your Overall Cost.
At current APE prices ($1.20), our overall cost is $1.03M (858K APE) + 500K APE or 1.35M APE total. The APE price increased slightly after we submitted the proposal.

For future clarity, we’ve adjusted to break our costs and the APE rewards pool out separately. With our costs denoted in USD. We’ve also reduced the rewards pool from 500k to 100k.

  1. How do you envision the Other Page platform integrating with ApeChain? Are there any potential challenges or obstacles you anticipate in this integration process?

We will integrate with ApeChain in three ways:

  1. Rewards vaults will be created and accessible on ApeChain this will be done by deploying Safe contracts to Arbitrum.

  2. Badge NFTs will be minted to ApeChain.

  3. ApeChain RPC will be supported directly within Other Page and select NFTs on ApeChain will be supported within profiles.

We do not foresee any serious obstacles with the integration.

  1. Please revise your Steps to Implement and Timeline section. As specified by the AIP Draft Template, the Steps to Implement section of your proposal, it should include the associated costs, personnel requirements, and any other resources needed for each of the steps. This section should also indicate the expected start date and during which step this proposal may be considered finally implemented.

Updates are reflected in the proposal.

  1. A. Regarding any granted permission to use ApeCoin trademarks by the Ape Foundation, do you expect to maintain full ownership rights to the content and/or IP which may be created as a result of the approval of your proposal?

Yes we expect to maintain full ownership rights to content & IP that we produce. The ApeCoin foundation can use all public content that we produce for any promotional materials for the DAO.
B. Would your expectation be to keep complete ownership of all content produced from this proposal?

We expect to keep complete ownership of all content produced from this proposal except for SDKs that will be licensed under MIT/GPL open source licenses.

  1. Please clarify how long the monthly updates to the ApeCoin DAO would continue to be provided if the proposal is approved.

They would continue for the duration of our build plus six months after we ship the final deliverables.

  1. Do you provide consent to apply updates to the relevant areas of your proposal based on your responses to the questions above?

Yes. We’ve also made some of our own updates that we believe address most of the questions you’ve asked.

  1. Do you provide consent to share these questions and answers with the community in this forum?

Yes

Follow this Topic as further updates will be posted here in the comments.

Love the way you set up the AIP, the detailed costs and laying out the details for social engagement quests.

The way the website is currently is set up, is innovative and the UI is so smooth.

Additionally Otherpage is gamifying and creating personalised content based on the tokens you hold, giving every user a unique experience. Combining this with Ai, very promising project and is scalable for example adding more collections.

Thanks @lawofthesaw! Appreciate the support, the team loves you back!

Very detailed proposal, clear breakdown with a milestone based approach.

Would there be any way to integrate delegations in your platform?

I think the DAO needs to fund an Investment fund as an LP, which we can then direct projects suitable as an investment and they can co-invest alongside others. This will deal with the legal risks getting funds from a DAO. @kodama

Love this proposal. Web 3 gaming should always start with the characters and items a player owns or rents. A hub based approach is a perfect solution for a decentralized gaming world and has so much potential.

This is a really professional proposal and I have also been impressed with all the interactions I’ve had with Mike and Leo. I do think this would be a major positive for ApeChain onboarding and a key tool for game creators on the Chain. If it passes, I look forward to working closely with the team to maximize the benefit for ApeChain. If it doesn’t, I look forward to working together to see if this could be a candidate for future ApeChain-specific funding programs. Good luck, guys and happy to help coordinate on the ApeChain side of things!
