PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION

The DAO is international in nature and should not be limited by language. Our goal is to comprehensively increase the participation rate of DAO members. In addition to translating articles into various languages, we will also proactively send each AIP to different communities, collect opinions from each community, and publicly disclose them to all members on our website.

We will arrange for employees to communicate with leaders of various communities and integrate into those communities. They will use the translation system to translate primarily English articles and opinions into different languages, thereby increasing DAO member participation. Our employees play a crucial role in disseminating information and gathering community opinions. This not only enhances the transparency of the DAO but, more importantly, fosters cohesion among members from different regions, thus increasing their sense of value and commitment.

When two or more different language communities need to hold an online meeting, our system will provide real-time AI oral translation, allowing communities to understand each other’s opinions immediately and respond promptly, thus overcoming language barriers.

We encourage DAO members to make proposals. In addition to translating the AIPs for voting into various languages, we will assist community members in translating their opinions. The system can also provide oral translation for DAO members’ AIPs. For example, Tony, a Japanese member, speaks his AIP in Japanese to the system, the real-time AI translation feature will convert the Japanese into an English document. This facilitates DAO members in writing their AIPs and sharing AIPs or opinions with other communities.

In order to comprehensively increase the participation of DAO members, we will not only provide comprehensive language and community assistance, but also develop a reward mechanism to encourage everyone to participate and reward Apecoin.

The reward funds are designed to incentivize and recognize the active participation and contributions of APE coin holders in the DAO. These funds will be distributed through a transparent and fair system, ensuring that all participants have an equal opportunity to benefit. Below are the main aspects of the reward distribution process:

Reward Criteria and Mechanism

  1. Contribution-Based Rewards: The majority of the funds will be allocated based on the contribution levels of APE coin holders. Contributions can include proposing and developing AIPs, participating in discussions, voting, and other forms of engagement that add value to the DAO. We will use a points-based system to quantify contributions, with more significant and impactful activities earning more points.

  2. Participation Rewards: To encourage broad participation, a portion of the rewards will be randomly distributed to APE coin holders who participate in voting and other community activities. This ensures that even smaller holders feel valued and are motivated to engage.

Distribution Process

  1. Points Accumulation: We will calculate points on a monthly basis. The system will accumulate points based on the activities and contributions of APE holders. At the end of each month, these points will be converted into corresponding reward tokens.

  2. Transparency and Verification: All contributions and points will be recorded in the system to ensure verifiability. This prevents any fraudulent activity and ensures fair distribution.

  3. Reward Payment: Once verified, the rewards will be directly distributed to the wallets of eligible APE coin holders. Distribution will occur regularly to ensure that contributors are consistently recognized and rewarded.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM

  1. Bringing the APECOIN DAO to the global stage
    The APECOIN DAO should not be limited to a single language. In the past, the participation rate of Asian members has been relatively low, with fewer proposals initiated. We want to ensure that friends from every country have a share.

  2. Providing sustainable returns for APE members
    By opening up a reward system, we will create a reward mechanism to encourage participation and reward APE. The first quarter will be 100,000 APE. In the following quarters, we will provide over 95% of the proposal funds as rewards for APE holders.

  3. Maximizing the transparency and participation of AIPs
    In the past, information has not been circulated well. We will translate the proposals and spread them to each community, allowing everyone to monitor the AIP authors.

  4. Strengthening communication between APE communities
    We will collect and summarize the opinions of each community weekly, translate them into different versions and feed back to each community. We will provide real-time AI oral translation, allowing communities to understand each other’s opinions immediately and timely communication.

DEFINITIONS

Articles : the translated documents during the proposal and voting stages, as well as the translated documents of opinions written by community members.

The communities refer to those holding Apecoin, including BAYC Japan, BAYC Taiwan, MocaCN, BAYC Canada, and others.

APE Holder : all Ape coin holders.

STEPS TO IMPLEMENT

Project Expected Start and End Dates:
Expected Start Date: August 1, 2024
Expected End Date: December 31, 2025

Initial setup: Launching software development and hiring employees, both planned to be activated within one month of receiving funding.

Software launch: Including translation and reward systems, to be completed within the first 3 months after funding.

Community launch: Employees will be stationed in the APE community, providing one-stop services for each community, to be activated within one month of receiving funding.

Reward for APE HOLDER plan launch: To be divided into six phases, with the first phase completed within the first 2 months after funding. Each subsequent phase will be carried out one month apart.

When all rewards have been distributed, the entire phase will end.

  • Monitor system performance, promptly identifying and resolving issues.

  • Assist Employee A in analyzing system failures, providing technical support and solutions.

  • Ensure efficient use of system resources to improve operational efficiency.

  • Assist Employee A in resolving application and system-related technical issues.

  • Monitor platform and reporting systems.

Reward for APE HOLDER: 100,000 APE

The rewards will be fully given to APE HOLDER. If the rewards are used up, we will continue to apply for funds, and in the next quarter over 95% of the funds will be used for rewards for APE HOLDER, with only the operating costs retained.

This sounds like something that the Marketing and Communications WG could work into their plans as it has to do with communications to an extent. You could also engage with Thank Ape to see if there is something that could be done since it specializes in rewarding already.

Agree with @Apewhale that this feels like something that can/should be handled by Marcomms.

Not sure what a reasonable budget is for something like this, but as presented, I would like to understand more about the Reward for APE Holder portion. How will those funds be distributed?

Thank you for the proposal. I think it’s very important that we provide translations in languages other than English, but I’d like some more information if this is a reasonable cost. I’ve used translation services in the past and this seems very high. For 460,000APE we could probably hire 10+ full time translators for a year, or 5+ for two years. I think at most we’d only need 1 or 2 FT translators for the needs of the DAO, if that.

Also, in terms of rewards, there will better more comprehensive programs coming from ApeChain so would hold off on using funds for a separate standalone program.

I’m struggling to see how this will cost over $400,000.

The primary purpose of this AIP is that it is going to be a translation layer. There are no details on how the actual translation will happen. Is this the cost to perpetually translate all AIPs? In that case I’m assuming you will use an automated solution to translate. In that case do you have a proprietary translation system? How does it compare to all the AI translation software available in the market?

Right now I can automatically translate everything for free and instantly using google translate within the browser. If I want to write, I can use AI translators like chatGPT. This will get 95% of the meaning across. The only way I can get close to 100% is by having a human translator. But I don’t think you plan on using human translation. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Using most of these translation tools are close to free, so why does it cost over $400,000? Where is the value add?

First of all, thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns regarding the budget, and we would like to provide a clearer explanation of the budget allocation.

The system will be developed and completed within three months. This process includes defining project goals, organizing the team, and drafting a development plan. We will analyze and integrate fragmented requirements, determine the type of software development, specific features, interface design, risk assessment, and schedule planning. This will be followed by the design phase, producing the overall framework design, including data structure, process control, module division, and functionality. We will collaborate with UI designers to produce preview interface mockups, which will be handed over to engineers for front-end and back-end development. The appropriate development environment, tools, and programming languages will be chosen to complete technical research, coding, API integration, self-testing, and other tasks to realize the design phase.

After development, the software will undergo comprehensive testing for visual elements, functionality, content, and performance, and any bugs will be fixed to ensure the system or software operates correctly. The software will then be handed over for acceptance testing and operational training. The software will be launched for trial operation, and based on user feedback and issues, it will be optimized and fixed. Once stable, it will officially go live and enter the routine maintenance phase.

Completing the entire process within three months is challenging, but we are confident we can achieve this goal. The purpose of the AIP is to comprehensively increase the participation rate of DAO members. We understand that translations can be handled by Google Translate or ChatGPT. However, not all DAO members know how to use these translation tools. We are aware that members are often very busy and may not spend much time on the Apecoin forum to check AIPs. They might only spend 5-10 minutes a day checking messages on Telegram or Twitter. We need to consider these habits. Unfortunately, many DAO members share this habit, resulting in low participation. We have noted this issue and therefore conceived the idea of proactive translation and message dissemination. We hope to provide more input and participation for the DAO, establishing an important bridge for members of different languages and cultures worldwide.

I know couple of initiatives that are already taking care of this barrier of language.

One thing I dont understand is that where does this translation software comes into play and community reward, like for what basis? Out of 460k $ape, 320k is being used by the team from various things and only 140k $ape being rewarded. Languages will be limited translated like maybe 20, which the software will take care of but how will the rewards come into play?
Kindly explain a bit more about the software because from the proposal it seems like nothing is set in motion, not even the product or developers.

Besides the rewards earned in APE, we want everyone to focus on the benefits that the rewards can bring to the DAO.

A points reward program can have the following positive effects on increasing engagement in DAO.

  1. The rewards motivates users to participate more actively in DAO activities, such as posting, replying, and joining discussions, thereby increasing DAO activity levels.

  2. Earning rewards makes DAO members feel recognized and valued, increasing their loyalty to the forum and their willingness to continue participating.
