The one thing that still concerns me - and those I am contact with and who tend to pay attention - is that $100M is still a massive amount of the DAO treasury liquidity - even if it’s still being doled out in tranches during the course of this program. It’s a major risk, especially when you consider that most of the revenue generating projects aren’t likely to be signed, go online, earning revenue for quite some time. And as I’ve said before, success or failure, people in the program will still get paid because thus far I haven’t seen any KPI or incentives based discussions surrounding compensation. We need to have that particular conversation and I hope that, at the very least, Kodama, Lost, AdventurousApe or someone else who can attend the next Spaces if I cannot, will raise this rather serious point.
I would also like to see a specific Discourse section with updates as this program moves forward. Take a look at the Arbitrum $265M GCP updates thread for an example of how to do this.
In closing, I would like to say this again - and with zero ambiguity:
I have no immediate plans to deploy any of my three projects on ApeChain. Aside from the fact that I have already made commitments to other friends in this regard, I still believe that it’s going to be a massive lift for it to be even a minimal success. Since 2022, I have had too much time and money invested in these projects to take that kind of risk because if I lose this Web3 bet that I have made, I could lose it all. I am 61, and as an active dev who still [shockingly] actually writes code for my projects, I don’t have any more games left in me. So, this is it for me.
That said, I will continue to cheer on those many credible and hardworking builders (gamers or otherwise) who come through here from time to time, and help them, in whatever way that I can, to succeed.
And if I do end up finding a way to support ApeChain with games, I will communicate it directly to the DAO because I have no interest in behind-the-scenes deals which I will continue to rally against because that’s not how transparency should work. That said, I do have some ideas, but I need to fully formulate them before presenting them to my DAO frens.
