gm. One point made by someone in the recent Ape Assembly meeting (the first meeting, 5th July 5) was “…it becomes popularity contest…”. That comment was not about AIPs but we can extend it to AIPs/ ideas.
I propose making all AIP submissions (AIP ideas, drafts, final submission etc.) anonymous. This will ensure that ideas are discussed and debated entirely on the content and not who is actually posting them.
If approved, this would be a small change in our tech stack so the cost for this implementation would practically be 0.
The trouble with this approach is that it is useful to understand who is raising an AIP to get a sense of whether they have the knowledge/skill/time/network to implement
In order to move an AIP from Idea to Draft phase, an author has to make sure their AIP fits all the required Template fields. One of those fields, “Author Description,” is mandatory if the author is requesting funds. (Two actually, as “Team Description” is also required for AIPs requesting funds.)
Given this, are you proposing that we eliminate making “Author/Team Description” mandatory for AIP authors for authors requesting funds?
All statements and opinons are my own, not on behalf of the Ape Foundation.
The fields say description and authors could use something descriptive like “Angel investor with $5 million invested, 3 exits” or “Collab manager for an NFT project with over 5k eth in secondary sales” etc.
If more people think it’s more suitable to show the author’s identity rather than hide it in the draft phase, we can consider anonymous posts in the Ideas category.
It’s noble idea indeed but there are tons of people floating around who may ask a huge amount for something that may seem reasonable and exciting but we have no way of finding out that if that particular person is capable enough to achieve those goals.
Actions speaks louder than words
How do you plan to know confirm these statements?
P.S. I invented doofenshmirtz evil incorporated and I’m one of the largest holders of $ape with over 1 million $ape in staking
We can verify in the same way we currently do. Additionally, if having the name (like “Evil”) is necessary at the draft stage, then we can consider having anonymous authors for topics in the AIP Ideas category.
Your topic will be moving to the AIP Draft phase in 24 hours. Are you content with the feedback received or do you wish to extend community discussion for another 7 days?
If we do not hear from you within 48 hours after your topic closes, your topic will be moved straight to the AIP Draft process.
Thank you for your ideas [and the ApeCoin DAO community for the thoughtful discussions]. A moderator will get in touch with the author to draft the AIP in the appropriate template. Once the AIP is drafted and meets all the DAO-approved guidelines, the proposal will be posted on Snapshot for live official voting at: Snapshot
