PROPOSAL NAME: Defining Official ApeCoinDAO Working Groups
ABSTRACT
Currently, the ApeCoinDAO has three Working Groups with a combined seven Stewards, three Facilitators, and a Secretary operating on a full-time basis.
This proposal aims to implement a set of measures to consider whenever the creation of a new Working Group is proposed; driven by the need for responsible resource allocation, effective brand management, and proper legal oversight.
Clear boundaries will be set by the creation of a new classification in Discourse that authors must categorize their proposal, and any changes to the scope of an existing Working Group or approved AIP must be explicitly stated in their abstract. Furthermore, we address misassociation risks by establishing an “Official” classification for approved Working Groups, which will enable access to Governance resources such as election facilitation and DAO Secretary services.
To help further address administrative expenses, this plan looks to amend elements of AIP-239 and AIP-347 with a cost-effective solution for Stewards operating in groups with less than three members by allowing them to nominate Stewards from other official ApeCoinDAO Working Groups as an arbitrator, able to cast decisive votes whenever necessary. These “Adjudicatory Stewards” will also have the responsibility of serving as a signer on the group’s treasury wallet, ensuring that transactions are executed appropriately.
TEAM DESCRIPTION
ALL CITY is an ApeCoinDAO Governance Working Group Steward who serves as a key strategist with a proven history authoring successful AIP proposals, GWG initiatives, and DAO-wide voting campaigns. His primary focuses include identifying potential contributors who can bring value to the ApeCoin ecosystem, improving the overall quality of AIPs submitted by the community, and increasing voter turnout.
The proposal is currently being discussed internally within the GWG and may be presented on behalf of the Governance Working group.
BENEFIT TO APECOIN DAO
Cost Effectiveness: The ApeCoin community has showed tremendous support toward our Working Groups, but moving forward we need a more efficient approach to better-maximize resources and keep our existing groups accountable.
Enhanced Transparency: Voters will continue tohave clear information about the official status and mandate of each Working Group.
Reduced Brand Risk: Distinguishing official groups mitigates potential risks associated with unofficial groups using the “Working Group” title.
Effective Resource Allocation: Resources will be targeted towards official groups with demonstrably defined roles and responsibilities.
Improved Legal Protection: Clearer tiers enhance legal clarity and mitigate potential liabilities.
Optimized Scope and Collaboration: Established scopes for official groups prevent overlap and encourage collaboration.
KEY TERMS
Adjudicatory Steward: A new designation for an Official Working Group Steward nominated to serve as an arbitrator and an additional signer for the treasury wallet in groups operating with fewer than three members.
Official Working Group: A new designation for ApeCoinDAO Working Groups which have been passed by a DAO-wide vote with elected Stewards. Currently, there are three:
- Metaverse Working Group
- Governance Working Group
- Marketing & Communications Working Group
PLATFORMS & TECHNOLOGIES
No new platforms or technologies will be required; however, an additional signer will be added to a Working Group treasury wallet whenever an Adjudicatory Steward is needed.
STEPS TO IMPLEMENT & TIMELINE
Once the proposal passes, all ApeCoinDAO materials containing information related to Working Groups should be updated to reflect these changes.
