Nomination Statement

Since day 1 of Apecoin DAO I got passionate about how to push forward this larger BAYC community and help building a framework to expand the Apecoin ecosystem, acting within the innovative DAO governance. I wish to scale up my contributions as Special Council member.

Motivation

I have been an active contributor to Apecoin DAO proposing AIPs like the approved Staking, and Transparency Act for ecosystem funds allocation. I gave opinions, criticized or endorsed many other AIPs on Discourse and Twitter, always having in mind the DAO’s ultimate benefit. Being a Special Council member would allow much more effectiveness in safeguarding the DAO’s interests .

Rationale

The following skills built over my +14y work experience first as auditor in Big4, financial controller and Vice President in Joint Venture of retail business:

Negotiation & Diplomacy: used to deal with conflicts and opposing interests, ability to find win-win solutions.

Integrity: used to deal with highly confidential information, corporate funds supervision and signing powers.

Critical thinking: never take anything for granted, exercise questioning and testing, regardless of the counterpart.

Financial controlling: proficiency in financial evaluations, funds allocation, ROIs, cash flows.

Project management: coordinated many projects in Tech and innovation for retail business, change management.

M&A: coordinated corporate transactions in financial, legal and tax aspects.

Compliance: heading regulatory corporate efforts, like in data security and trademarks, contracts reviews.

Specifications

Crypto governance participation and governance experience:

  • Apecoin DAO: author of AIP-21/22 “Staking proposal” and AIP-121 “Transparency Act for funds allocation”.

  • +10y experience in Joint Ventures complex governance: Boards’ agenda preparation, participation as finance executive, conflicts solving, coordinate execution, shareholders’ agreements drafting.

DAO improvement:

  • increase the Special Council members to 7 bringing in more diverse expertise, without increasing the total cost.

  • improve internal controls in close collaboration with APE Foundation and community.

  • increase communication frequency with more clarity on Special Council and APE Foundation actions, projects status.

  • align more the Special Council incentives to Apecoin, with compensation fixed in $APE and not in USD equivalent.

Concluding Statement

As a Special Council member I would exercise the role with impartiality, transparency, openness to the community. Support the maximization of Apecoin growth and adoption in a sustainable and responsible way will be my utmost goal.

Dear DAO Members, it is great to have the opportunity to run for Apecoin Special Council nomination!

These are exciting times, I still remember at the beginning of the DAO when nobody knew how to write an AIP on Discourse yet, engaging and heated discussions, till now that community members will join the Special Council and are getting more involved than ever in the Comms&admin of the DAO.

In the following days I will write a bit more about

  • my background;
  • why you should vote for me; what I will do in case of election and in case of not election;
  • my interpretation of Special Council role in the DAO, “what is it, and what is not”.

I start attaching a clear summary thanks to @Vulkan , and a brief “what is a Special Council member?”.

A Special Council Member is:

  1. a DAO member as well, temporarily nominated to that position in order to enhance an orderly, positive and productive community discussions bringing to AIPs which innovate and expand APE ecosystem;
  2. an impartial, fair, transparent, open administrator of AIPs, safeguarding the whole DAO interest, and without conflicts of interest;
  3. an inspirational and proactive leader being part of a Council with diverse expertise, pushing forward proposals for efficient DAO governance and web3 strategy.

Hi @giacolmo.eth, I am asking all candidates these same questions:

  1. If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO? (Let’s pretend you only had the time and energy to make a personal push for one item - what would it be?)

  2. Are there any factors in your life that may limit your ability to serve? (conflicts of interest, time allocation, limited wifi bc you work from Starbucks… etc)

  3. What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in it’s current state?

  4. What is a Koda?

Thank you,
F/S

Dear @foxSlightly , thanks for your questions and kindly see my replies below:

1. If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO? (Let’s pretend you only had the time and energy to make a personal push for one item - what would it be?)

Reply: if need to choose 1 item, I would say improve the governance (DAO bodies and processes), as a foundational framework which can last for many years. I have the professional competencies as for many years I am used to work in and draft governance for joint ventures. DAOs are a new model and the perfect governance doesn’t exist, with much experimentation, but to draft well-thought governance requires study (including other DAOs examples), tailoring to our needs and a broad vision of possible risks.

2. Are there any factors in your life that may limit your ability to serve? (conflicts of interest, time allocation, limited wifi bc you work from Starbucks… etc)

Reply: for sure not conflict of interests, as my current job relates to a traditional industry (retail), so there are no links between my possible role in the DAO and any of my current businesses. My interests are well aligned to DAO as $APE holder and Yuga NFTs.
Time allocation: as mentioned I have a full time job, but I can say that with my Apecoin DAO experience, I basically already “worked” for the DAO some hours every week since inception as you can see from my track-record. I am committed to at least double the effort in terms of available hours per week being set as minimum, and honestly if projects will require, weekends and nights can become working time as I am driven by passion here.

3. What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in it’s current state?

Reply: the fact that many complain about the lack of “use-case” for $APE and at the same time doing very little as part of a community to contribute for it. See my tweet here as example. https://twitter.com/giacolmo/status/1597235752743538688?s=20&t=DdHs4c3mIH3jHsZ17KkD0Q

4. What is a Koda?

Reply: the cornerstone of the future Web3 most successful metaverse.

Dear DAO Members, I wish to write more about:

  • what is a Special Council Member: in addition to my above mentioned description, from recently published Transparency Report, it is now understood that Special Council can also approve $APE grants outside of AIP process. As such Members may have some kind of autonomous executive power and budget spending, as long as not conflicting with in-force AIPs and Foundation rules. In my opinion this power need to be clarified (and most probably better regulated by a specific AIP) as left unchecked by DAO voting may lead to a change of the Special Council original purpose and use of funds without the community participation. Moreover, it is even more important the integrity/impartiality and lack of conflict of interests by Special Council Members, plus professional knowledge is required.
  • what is NOT a Special Council Member: CEOs, ministers with budget spending, someone who privilege the interests of particular sub-groups in the community.

THEN:

  • why vote for me: beside my competencies outlined in my professional background (finance, legal, governance, project management, consensus building), my track-record in Apecoin DAO since inception can guarantee yourself my full commitment for the progress of $APE and safeguarding the collective interests. I think very few other candidates can say to have had an impact on the DAO like myself before this election (as AIP21/22 Staking proposer and AIP121 Transparency Act plus very active in commenting other proposals).

  • what I will do in case of election: If elected I will 10x multiply my efforts for Apecoin DAO. I already stated above my main goals/vision. I believe our trip as DAO should be iterative and experimental, as such I will be a reliable steward of this journey.

  • what I will do in case of non election: what I did until now, still contributing to the DAO as “legislator” of AIPs because I have fun and personal satisfaction out of it, and will try to provide value to other proposals or criticizing the ones I believe dangerous or not beneficial for the DAO.

THANKS TO ALL !!
