Right now, it is more of an art than a science for me to drive the implementation updates.
In the last month, I have reached out to all authors. Many had no contact from the Foundation after they got their funding.
There have been cases where they refuse to even give an update or claim they did it already and sent to the Foundation, but won’t say to who in the Foundation. Then when I asked a person they said they won’t take the time to look for it and/or post it here.
My point, we need a change in process, where a percentage of funding is held back or other negative repercussions, such as not being allowed funding again.
I have an AIP draft for part of the solution.
Also, not having any time limits to accept funds is not professional, as circumstances change and AIP voters based on the facts and situation at the time of the snapshot (hence the name). We have AIP still not funded, authors shouldn’t be able to just keep them open to draw on at a later date.
For now, I appreciate all authors who have agreed to update. We need to find ways to make the grants win-wins and not just have accepted authors ghost the DAO after getting funding.
Also, if all Working Groups are dissolved who will do it?
It isn’t in the interests of the Special Council or Facilitators who work on the DAR and final contracts to drive this.
This is not a new problem in Grant making organisations globally. A Monitoring Initiative is something the GWG could do, if it exists in the future.
