Updating apecoin.com in a timely manner

I did a little surfing on www.apecoin.com and saw that some of the information is outdated.

Following Information is outdated:

  • captaintrippy still seems to be Special Council
  • Apecoin Press Kit still contains pictures of the first Special Council (Yat Siu, Maaria Bajwa, Dean Steinbeck, Amy Wu, Alexis Ohanian) + their bios
  • Apecoin press kit should include Apechain related content
  • Governance - Voting Process - 4th does not mention super majority voting

Do we need separate AIPs for such changes or should webslinger do this in a timely manner?

Edit:
I saw that the NFT checker is also useless and can be removed…

It is also good to look for external information that is out of date. @Frostyz if you can help that is awesome.

Here is an example:

These are my biggest questions on apecoin.com and ApeCoin DAO.
Why not have all ApeCoin and DAO-related information update to apecoin.com directly?
Require AIP to make changes?
THE INFORMATION is DISCRETE, really BAD user experience, potentially MISLEADING and cause SCAM later.

There are tonnes of “external” sites that belong to or are related to ApeCoin DAO by GWG but do not belong to Apecoin.com? :

I’m boldly assume that even SC and other WG don’t know the link to this information either.

Just out of interest - what is outdated on linked site?

I noticed Mo was missing the other day. Who to tell tho were my thoughts.

We need a full revamp of administrators duties imo.

Thanks.

I don’t really read the text that is on such sites, but the information on apecoin.com should be correct… And such changes takes like max 15 minutes of work. As i know webslinger is responsible for this, so why they dont update it?

I have actually sent leadership messages about this, and just assume they would be addressed.

A lot longer than 15 mins. But yes, it should be updated.

Updates should happen often and frequently.

I believe the issue is, who does that work fall to? @AllCityBAYC can probably shed some light on this, seeing as he regularly responds to such queries.

This topic has been shared with the website administrators.

Derek, appreciate the ping.

Since the website is operated by the Foundation, updates can be a bit tricky. And to the best of my knowledge, there hasn’t been a dedicated team managing the design and development side to implement ongoing modifications, whether minor or major, since it was built, although I do recognize some updates have been made.

With that in mind, and echoing thoughts from another discussion that I chimed in on recently, I would speculate that, given the great job the Special Council and team did with the ApeChain site, improvements across the board are are at the very least on their radar. That being said, and speaking from experience when attempting to request website adjustments, I can also add that the APE Foundation takes the site’s security very seriously.

So, although not ideal—and certainly not speaking on their behalf—the reluctance to change even small nuances of the site could be viewed as a risk without any go-to team under contract to handle them, fingers crossed it they’ve found that through ApeChain website development.

Thanks for the clarity. All makes sense.

As you mentioned, they were able to get a team to build and update apechain.com, and so - at best - they already have someone trusted with that sort of work. They could very well task that same person to take on these changes. I mean, who was updating apecoin.com to reflect the new Special Council members? That page - among others - is now outdated; but someone was making those changes at some point.

Wondering how many groups of people existed in this APE management. Couldn’t everyone work together?
Achieve the Responsibility, Accountability, Transparency

The bigger problem is more like we dont even know who we can ping in this regards, who can point me to the right directory, i just try it with all @Secretary

support@apecoin.com listed on the official website.

notices@apecoin.com listed on the apecoin forum.

I would like you to know I am not a moderator.

Do people think we need moderators or this is something that the facilitators should be doing?

I have been thinking about this as a high priority task as we reach apechain launch and hopefully more interest her at the DAO. However, the security risks posed by outsourcing these tasks seem too great. I’d rather support keeping “internally” as it seems the safest and fastest option. Also, it was what was envisaged previously (see below quote). Perfect for MCWG team to adopt.

@popil - just out of interest - do you have any thoughts around apecoin website?

What do you mean we don’t have moderators? This DAO, for some unknown reason, decided to call them facilitators; but they’re literally moderators.

Actually facilitator is a role to check the AIPs and make sure they flow through the system efficiently.

Moderators is more about checking and improving the conversation flow above surface in the forum. E.g. not the backend AIP approval flow.

So why is it that when we make reports here on Discourse, they go to Facilitators who subsequently take action? To me, that sounds like they’re also moderators; in much the same way that the GwG team is now also doing micro-grants - something that isn’t in their mandate or charter as a “governance” working group.

FYI: There’s an entire law (see Section 230 of the CDA) surrounding moderation of online communities and the responsibilities that come with that.
