Proposal name: Use of Official Twitter Account for AIP Proposers
Proposal Category: Process Proposal
Abstract
The proposal “Use of Official Twitter Account for AIP Proposers” seeks to establish a scheduled system wherein authors of AIPs (Apecoin Improvement Proposals) up for voting have access to the official Apecoin Twitter account for added visibility. The Ape Foundation is tasked with creating this schedule and a silent operator will control the Twitter space.
Motivation
The primary motivation for this proposal is to provide AIP authors with a broader platform to introduce and discuss their ideas. By utilizing the official Apecoin Twitter account, proposals have the potential to reach a wider audience, leading to greater exposure, feedback, and ultimately, more informed voting.
Rationale
Increasing visibility for new proposals enriches community engagement and discussion around Apecoin’s future developments. The access to the official Twitter account serves as a recognition of the author’s efforts and provides a significant incentive for thoughtful, impactful proposals. This open communication channel can foster a more vibrant and inclusive community.
Specifications
Upon the approval of this proposal, these processes will be put into place:
Arrange for a silent operator to manage the Twitter space.
After an AIP proposal is approved for voting, Discourse Facilitators will inform the authors about the opportunity and schedule them, along with up to two other participants, for a total maximum presentation time of one hour.
Participants will have up to 10 minutes to join the Twitter stage after the space opens.
There will be no co-hosts, and no audience members will be allowed on the stage during the presentation.
In cases with multiple proposals, the one-hour time slot will be divided equally among them, with a maximum of 12 participants allowed on stage.
The time slot will be fixed to every Friday at 8am Pacific US time, 4pm UK time, and 11pm Hong Kong time.
Proposal authors are responsible for their presentations while on stage. Before being presented, an author and their idea must be approved by Special Council for snapshot voting as per usual.
Steps To Implement
Operator Selection: Following approval, the Ape Foundation will identify and designate a silent operator to manage the Apecoin official Twitter account.
Establish Rules and Guidelines: The Ape Foundation will need to create a set of rules and guidelines for AIP authors who will have access to the Twitter account. This should cover elements such as appropriate content, duration, timing, and expected behavior.
Communication to AIP Authors: Once the rules and guidelines are established, Discourse Facilitators will need to communicate these to AIP authors. They will also inform the authors about their opportunity to access the Twitter account and schedule them for their presentations.
Scheduling: The Ape Foundation will need to establish a scheduling system to organize the presentations of the AIP authors. The presentations should be evenly distributed to ensure all authors have an equal chance to share their proposals.
Implementation: The Twitter stage presentations will then be implemented according to the schedule. The silent operator will ensure the guidelines are followed and that the presentations go smoothly.
Timeline
The implementation timeline for this proposal is short. Upon approval, the Ape Foundation will promptly establish the Twitter stage operating system.
Overall Cost
The cost to the DAO for this proposal is minimal, as it requires only the allocation of a silent host from the Ape Foundation. Given the potential benefits of increased proposal visibility and community engagement, the expected return on this minor investment is substantial.
But even when vetted, optics start getting murky having some projects highlighted and others not.
That being said, passed proposals can be presented without completely endorsing them, while keeping the community up to date with DAO ongoings and opportunities. Maybe as a roundup each week, without necessarily providing dedicated posts for each.
But yeah, not in favour of diluting the official page. ApeComms and participating in community-led initiatives like ThankAPE is the way for proposal exposure leading up to voting.
I appreciate the idea, but feel that there are a lot of AIPs that come up, that without being passed may be better served via APEcomms.
I LOVE this idea for the Passed AIPs and also would love to see spaces with updates from AIPs that have passed. Like a Quarterly or 6 month update on what’s poppin’.
There are many people I want to thank for their support of Apecomms. The original version was written on my cellphone on July 15th, 2022 after my first zoom call with Vulkan. Here are some of the variants and versions. We have always been humble and grateful for the community we’ve onboarded.
During the original call w/ vulkan, we discussed how authors were struggling to host spaces, because no apes or serious voters would show up. We had Bored.eth join us after being unable to recruit Herb, Ap3father, and more. Dozens of onboarding documents and plans were drafted.
As of today, every AIP idea has a place on that stage every monday. They can rely on getting infront of voters. We hosted every council candidate last year in a series of stages. Stewards too.
Having said all of this, I have legal liability for what happens on apecomms stage. Nobody else. Apecomms team has sought brief legal council out of pocket and I have had to pay for my own ontop.
It was my wishes that the focus groups for WG0 would take up the responsibility of hosting spaces and helping proposal authors. They did not. To ensure a lasting stage for new ideas, the above proposal codifies a process that puts no co-hosts in charge, instead enables authors to use main stage.
Thank for the continued support. I am happy to discuss some of the legal opinions and recommendations that I have received on this topic, and am confident the above proposal can be implemented. I am also happy to concede on a few points if you’d like to make suggestions.
I don’t see any problems as long as it is handled and monitored quickly as possible also I think it’ll help balance the community in terms of available apps that users have.
Agree – love this idea for passed AIPs and as an opportunity to offer updates on AIPs that have been implemented (perhaps offer a snapshot of key metrics and/or visuals)!
It would be great to amplify the DAOs impact and also serve as a way to encourage participation.
Could be risky to give direct access of the official ApeCoin Twitter account to any author drafting and publishing an AIP. Not in favor of this one personally.
Your topic will be moving to the AIP Draft phase in less than 24 hours. Are you content with the feedback received or do you wish to extend community discussion for another 7 days?
If we do not hear from you within 48 hours after your topic closes, your topic will be moved straight to the AIP Draft process.
I think this proposal will make the community more involved, give AIP authors a great platform to share their ideas, and help people make better voting choices. I really encourage everyone in the forum to think about this proposal carefully and share their ideas and suggestions.
